Calls for impeachment/expulsion should go viral and call out every politician in office... That is supporting special interests rather than supporting the Constitution who are not supporting The People of These United States of America. (needless to say - this also goes for every country in the world )

PEOPLE NOTE: an excellent petition to support sign share circulate,

Really love this petition: http://signon.org/sign/the-case-to-impeach-senators?source=c.em.cp&r_by=7675197 From - http://occupywallst.org/forum/any-comments-on-the-movement-to-impeach/

Would love it to see more like it.

Talk about viral worthy.

Bitch - Boner - can'tor - Ayn Ryan - WILL THE CALL FOR YOUR IMPEACHMENT BE NEXT ???

WHY??? Betraying the constitution!!! Betraying the Public ( in case you are not sure = The People of The United States of America ) - in supporting the criminals of wallstreet ( no charges - no prosecutions -no breaking down of the TBTF ) for supporting fossil fuel continuation over the ability to convert to clean energy production transportation and Industry - so supporting the continued polluting ( Poisoning ) of the people of the environment ( air land water ) - supporting disease and death and destruction. For all of these reasons and more !!!

Lesser Known flunkies in government ( see above as this includes all of you as well ) -YOU ALSO CAN BE IDENTIFIED TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE AND CALLED OUT !!!

NOTE :

GREED THE #1 CAUSE OF DISEASE/DEATH/DESTRUCTION IN THE WORLD.

Ok, tell me what you think.

http://www.nationalhomeless.org/factsheets/hatecrimes.html

^^^

Stats for deaths for 2010 as homeless.

A few stats on elderly homeless. http://www.nationalhomeless.org/factsheets/Elderly.pdf

Is there not a political war being waged on these people? Are the moves that are made designed to kill a population without directly killing them? Further, are there not attempts to increase that population? That's why I mention Michigan. Since they have people that are closely watching every move.

I asked this last year or more, when do we begin to call these actions some type of genocide?

Renneye (2335) 1 day ago

Democide.

A term, I believe that is currently in flux, 'expanding' due to the ever increasing means by which to kill off certain groups of populations.

"Democide can also include deaths arising from "intentionally or knowingly reckless and depraved disregard for life"; this brings into account many deaths arising through various neglects and abuses, such as forced mass starvation."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democide

DKAtoday (24497) from Coon Rapids, MN 1 day ago

I will have to digest this for awhile to address it fully and properly. As YES there is a very real and palpable evil in such things - and the poor and the elderly are victims throughout time. Is it calculated evil??? Quite Often YES !!! Look at the austerity measures that are being taken - they ( measures taken ) are throwing people out into the street and are removing any kind of aid - food clothing medical shelter. What else can it be called - Other Than Murder???

FURTHER:

For aid to be publicly withdrawn puts out a message. An unspoken - but - clearly implied message.

The poor and the elderly are fair game for attack. So you of violent nature you just go ahead and have at em - and you of non-violent nature look the other way.

ANOTHER MESSAGE IMPLIED: Those of you that We ( society ) have abandoned. Do what you need to do to survive - crime of one sort or another - as living off the land is basically prohibited. (so feeding violence on the streets )

So - Consider:

Those in office who are attacking the social safety net of established protection programs for the elderly and the disabled and the poor. ARE ACTIVELY EVIL - MURDERERS. This for government direct actions in a campaign ( undeclared ) of genocide (?) - mass murder.

Then there is the attack on society feeding the evil that is employed by business - off shoring jobs ( removing domestic employment opportunities ) to sweat/slave shops. Also taking revenue out of the domestic economy further stressing the public's ( st )ability to maintain services and infrastructure. Not paying a living wage to all employees/workers ( again government is complicit here as well for allowing and even incentivising ). This does not get into the poisoning of the population or planet - causing disease and death by unclean practices/processes. Then there is the rampant crime of wallstreet and the financial sector - also killing victims. Yes this is all calculated all deliberate.

Senators and Congressmen can be expelled by their own house, but it's debatable if the legislative branch is covered by the impeachment portion of the constitution.

Might be a good time to look for good primary opponents.

It is always a good time to find replacements for those in office who should not be there.

Not a part of Occupy = presenting endorsing candidates.

Such actions/searches are up to the people ( supporters of Occupy = affinity groups and individuals ).

I posted this petition to another board that I frequent. Here is the response I got.

(quote) As I understand it, this petition is asking for these four Republicans to be impeached, not the President. This also makes sense given that the link goes to signon.org, which is associated with MoveOn.org, which is a political group that supports the Democratic Party.

Senators and Representatives cannot be impeached (that would be executive and judicial officers); however Senators and Representatives can be censured or expelled (by the Senate or House, respectively) with a two-thirds vote in that chamber.

Thus, if this is what the authors of the petition are angling for (their removal from office), they would revise this into two petitions--call for the expulsion of Rep. King and address it to the House and the three senators to the Senate.

It is also worth noting that I take no position on this petition at this time...(unquote)

Not being American myself, I thought I'd just pass on this response from an American who seems to know his rights from wrongs.

[+] -12 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

We did all that. There has only been one instance where it has been attempted so it isn't very clear. http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/minute/To_Arrest_An_Impeached_Senator.htm

[-] 3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Precedence doesn't go far in court these days anyways. Does it?

I'm all for the petition. I'm just handing along advice that a rather switched on American on another forum posted.

[+] -13 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Builder, we devoted almost an entire thread on the 99 reasons that it would not be successful..So, this was known in advance. It has the capacity to go either way simply because there has only been one attempt.

[-] 3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

A self-fulfilling prophecy?

I didn't read your thread. ZD takes criticism rather badly, so I left him to his own devices. Here's another comment from the same thread on that other board.

(quote)I live in Lindsey Graham's district, and while I'd like to see him impeached for incompetence, this I see as a false flag – Moveon.org likes these R’s because they are the main group that caves in to the Democrats. Graham and McCain both sign on to this notion of treating the bombers as enemy combatants as an appeal back to their base constituencies, but their commitment to it is most likely paper thin, and Soros knows it.

As to how to try the bombing suspects, if there was proof that they attempted to become naturalized as part of their cover to pull off this attack, that would make them spies and it would be correct to classify them as “enemy combatants”. I don’t see that as being the case; they may have been recruited to become terrorists, but that wasn’t the case when they emigrated. Criminal trial is correct.

But then could McCain/Graham then propose trying them for the wrong crime as a means to get the bomber off the charges? That was how the DA in LA tried to get the cops who beat Rodney King found innocent of their charges – by trying them for the wrong crime. And riots not withstanding, it worked initially. (unquote)

[+] -11 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

What board would that be? Prison Planet/ Infowars?

Any impeachment for congress could go either way because the questions remain unanswered. http://www.senate.gov/CRSReports/crs-publish.cfm?pid=%26*2%3C4RL%3B9%0A

It's a libertarian-dominated discussion board.

IMHO, the members come across as being disillusioned republicans.

They would say otherwise.

[+] -14 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Cool - good return advice - though I think it arguing semantics when you get right down to it - as the petition is ( as ZD put it ) basically a shot across the governments bow as well as a call for people to consider getting involved.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

It might make all the difference to get the terminology correct.

A "shot across the bows" is about jousting.

A petition is a legal device of sorts.

the fundamental flaw with this is reform is not possible, not without rousing the police state. so you are left with just 1 alternative and that is to form a movement that intends to completely replace the current stasis but not through protest or direct action that is pointless and in the end will only get you jail, injury, or death. no instead we are to simply set sail on a parallel course and when the time comes then people can jump ship and we will be right there to pick them up. if not well you have seen a taste of the police state with the repression of ows as well as chris dorner and the boston bombers. well there is going to be a whole lot more of that in the prison ship our ship on the other hand will be like a nice party boat with interesting people, good music, great food, premium hooch. a few doobies of some premium smoke and good times for all.

I served 25 years in the US Air Force, I was the Chief Prosecutor for the Terrorism Trials at Guantanamo Bay for more than two years, and now I need your help.

I personally charged Osama Bin Laden’s driver Salim Hamdan, Australian anathema David Hicks, and Canadian teen Omar Khadr. All three were convicted … and then they were released from Guantanamo. More than 160 men who have never been charged with any offense, much less convicted of a war crime, remain at Guantanamo with no end in sight. There is something fundamentally wrong with a system where not being charged with a war crime keeps you locked away indefinitely and a war crime conviction is your ticket home.

As of April 29, 2013 – 100 of the 166 men who remain in Guantanamo are engaged in a hunger strike in protest of their indefinite detention. Twenty-one of them are being force-fed and five are hospitalized. Some of the men have been in prison for more than eleven years without charge or trial. The United States has cleared a majority of the detainees for transfer out of Guantanamo, yet they remain in custody year after year because of their citizenship and ongoing political gamesmanship in the U.S.

That is why I am calling on Secretary of Defense Charles Hagel to use his authority to effect cleared transfers from Guantanamo and on President Obama to appoint an individual within the Administration to lead the effort to close Guantanamo. Obama announced on April 30 that he plans to do his part to close Guantanamo, but he has made this promise before. Now is the time to hold him to his promise and urge him to take the steps necessary to dismantle Guantanamo Bay Prison.

If any other country were treating prisoners the way we are treating those in Guantanamo we would roundly and rightly criticize that country. We can never retake the legal and moral high ground when we claim the right to do unto others that which we would vehemently condemn if done to one of us.

It is probably no surprise that human rights and activist groups like the Center For Constitutional Rights, Witness Against Torture and Amnesty International have been outspoken critics of Guantanamo. It may surprise you that a former military prosecutor and many other retired senior military officers and members of the intelligence community agree with them.

The Patriotic thing, the American thing, the Human thing to do here is to Close Guantanamo. Please join us in the fight by signing this petition. Sign Colonel Davis's Petition

When government listens to the people:

Dear amazing Avaaz community,

We did it -- Europe just banned bee-killing pesticides!! Mega-corporations like Bayer threw everything they had at this, but people-power, science and good governance came out on top!!

Avaaz bee die in, Germany Bee "die in" at Bayer's headquarters, Cologne Vanessa Amaral-Rogers from the specialist conservation organisation Buglife, says:

  • “It was a close vote, but thanks to a massive mobilisation by Avaaz members, beekeepers, and others, we won! I have no doubt that the floods of phonecalls and emails to ministers, the actions in London, Brussels and Cologne, and the giant petition with 2.6 million signers made this result possible. Thank you Avaaz, and everyone who worked so hard to save bees!”

Bees pollinate two thirds of all our food -- so when scientists noticed that silently, they were dying at a terrifying rate, Avaaz swung in to action, and we kept on swinging until we won. This week’s victory is the result of two years of flooding ministers with messages, organizing media-grabbing protests with beekeepers, funding opinion polls and much, much more. Here’s how we did it, together:

  • Keeping France strong. In January 2011, 1 million people sign our call to France to uphold its ban on deadly neonicotinoid pesticides. Avaaz members and beekeepers meet the French agriculture minister and fill the airwaves, pressing him to face down fierce industry lobbying and keep the ban, sending a strong signal to other European countries.

  • Bernie, the huge inflatable bee, helps deliver our 2.6m strong petition to Brussels

  • Tackling industry head on. Bayer has faced Avaaz and allies protesting at its last three annual meetings. The pesticide giant's managers and investors are welcomed by beekeepers, loud buzzing, and massive banners with our 1 million plus call on them to suspend use of neonicotinoids until scientists reviewed their effect on bees. Avaaz even makes a presentation inside the meeting, but Bayer says 'no'.

  • Making the science count. In January the European Food Safety Agency finds that three pesticides pose unacceptable risks to bees, and we jump in to ensure Europe's politicians respond to their scientific experts. Our petition quickly grows to 2 million signatures. After many talks with EU decision-makers, Avaaz delivers our call right to the EU HQ in Brussels. Later that same day, the Commission proposes a two-year ban!

  • March of beekeepers Beekeepers help deliver our massive petition to Downing Street

  • Seizing our chance. The battle to save the bees heats up in February and March. Across the EU, Avaaz members are ready to respond as all 27 EU countries decide whether to welcome or block the proposal. When farming giants UK and Germany say they won't vote yes, Avaaz publishes public opinion polls showing huge majorities of Brits and Germans in favour of the ban. Avaaz members also send almost half a million emails to EU Agriculture Ministers. Apparently afraid of dealing with citizens rather than industry lobbyists, UK minister Owen Paterson complains of a “cyber-attack”, which journalists turn into a story in our favour! And then comes Bernie -- our 6 metre bee in Brussels -- a powerful visual way to deliver our petition as negotiations enter the final stages. Journalists flock to Bernie, and we hear we've helped get the Spanish ministry to look harder at the science and shift position . But we didn't get the majority we needed to pass the ban.

  • Bernie in The Independent Bernie the bee featured in The Independent Turning the red light green. In April the bee-saving proposal is sent to an Appeals Committee, giving us a glimmer of hope if we can switch a few more countries' positions. In the final sprint, Avaaz teams up with groups including Environmental Justice Foundation, Friends of the Earth and Pesticides Action Network, plus beekeepers and famous bee-loving fashion designers to organise an action outside the UK Parliament. In Germany, beekeepers launch their own Avaaz petition to their government, signed by over 150,000 Germans in just two days and delivered in Cologne soon after. More phone calls rain down on ministries in different capitals as Avaaz responds to a last-minute wrecking amendment by Hungary, and positions Bernie the bee again in Brussels. Pesticide companies buy adverts in the airport to catch arriving officials, and take to the airwaves suggesting other measures such as planting wild flowers. But their slick messaging machine is ignored, first Bulgaria then -- the big prize -- Germany switch their stances and this week we win, with over half of EU countries voting for the ban!

It’s been a long haul, to get this win, and it wouldn't have been possible without scientists, specialists, sympathetic officials, beekeepers and our campaign partners. We can be proud of what we've helped to accomplish together.

One strong bees advocate, Paul de Zylva, head of the Pesticides and Pollinators Unit at Friends of the Earth said:

  • "Thanks to millions of Avaaz members who mobilised online and in the streets. Without a doubt Avaaz's massive petition and creative campaigning helped push this over the edge, complementing our work and that of other NGOs."

It's time to celebrate this breathing space for one of the earth's most precious and important creatures. But the EU ban is only in place for 2 years pending further review. And around the world bees continue to die from the pesticides which weaken and confuse them, as well as from loss of habitat as we plough up and build over the countryside. In Europe and across the world there's lots of work to do to ensure sound science guides our farming and environmental policies. And we're just the community for the job. :)

With hope and happiness,

Ricken, Iain, Joseph, Emily, Alex, Michelle, Aldine, Julien, Anne, Christoph and the rest of the Avaaz team

At a time when the most vulnerable Americans are losing vital services like Meals on Wheels and Head Start because of the sequester, Congress has leaped into action to... prevent delays in air travel.

Last Friday, both the House and the Senate overwhelmingly passed legislation allocating more money to the Federal Aviation Administration, and then quickly left town on flights back to their home districts.

While timely air travel is important, it is certainly no more important than lunch for senior citizens or early childhood education for pre-schoolers.

Another candidate for impeachment/expulsion: ( The following would be a start )

Representative Michele Bachmann is the Tea Party’s queen of crazy. So what kind of a signal does it send that she's on the House Intelligence Committee where she has access to sensitive national security information?

Bachmann has actually said that gay marriage is the biggest problem facing the nation, financial reform efforts equate with Mussolini-style fascism, and that President Obama is "anti-American" and "turning our country into a nation of slaves.”

Her loose association with the facts and her willingness to believe in all sorts of completely baseless conspiracy theories makes her one of the last people in Congress who should be entrusted with our nation’s secrets.

Tell John Boehner: Remove Michele Bachmann from the House Intelligence Committee. Click here to automatically sign the petition.

One of Bachmann’s most irresponsible actions was to launch an anti-Muslim witch hunt and suggest, à la Joe McCarthy, that the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the American government.

Bachmann articulated her paranoid fever dream of a conspiracy theory during an interview with Glenn Beck, saying:

“The influence today of the Muslim Brotherhood at the highest levels, from the White House, to the Pentagon, to the FBI, even to our United States military, truly is breathless and people have to know about it.”

Tell John Boehner: Remove Michele Bachmann from the House Intelligence Committee. Click here to automatically sign the petition.

As part of her witch hunt, Bachmann also suggested that a top aide to then-Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was part of the conspiracy, which was so obviously absurd that it led to rebukes from a number of prominent Republicans including John McCain and even John Boehner himself, who called the accusations “pretty dangerous.”

Indeed, accusations like these are dangerous.

They are dangerous because they add a patina of legitimacy to the virulent and hateful Islamophobia that shamefully pervaded our society , all too often erupting into violence against people who are (or are believed by their attackers to be) Muslim.

And these kinds of public accusations are dangerous because the xenophobia they incite bring us as a country farther from the mutual recognition of shared human dignity that will help us peacefully and successfully resolve conflicts with others around the world.

Outrageously, Bachmann defended her accusations by suggesting that her position on the Intelligence Committee gave her access to classified information that backed her up. There’s only one sure-fire way to make sure Bachmann doesn’t do the same thing again, and that’s to get her removed from the committee.

Send a message today, and tell Speaker John Boehner to remove Bachmann immediately from the House Intelligence Committee. Click the link below to automatically sign the petition:

FROM: Elizabeth Warren for Massachusetts

We can't solve our country's budget problems with a meat-ax.

Sequestration isn't just dumb, it's dangerous and irresponsible. Blunt, across the board cuts are hurting our children, our seniors, our veterans – the people who need our help the most.

Last week, Congress stepped in to restore full funding for air traffic controllers to keep out country moving. But our children, seniors, and veterans shouldn't have to get stuck on a tarmac before Congress pays any attention.

People with cancer or families dealing with autism or Alzheimer's shouldn't be ignored. Flight delays are bad for all of us, but it's also bad for all of us when we cut funding for Meals on Wheels and Head Start. And it's bad for all of us when medical research gets sidelined and when young scientists' work can't get funded.

The truth is that we could end those cuts and put a stop to sequestration right now if we just made big corporations, millionaires, and billionaires pay their fair share.

That's why I'm joining Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse to sponsor legislation that repeals sequestration by ending the tax giveaways and special breaks for our most profitable companies and millionaires.

Become a citizen cosponsor of the Job Preservation and Sequester Replacement Act today.

Washington is rigged for the big guys -- the ones who can afford to hire an army of lobbyists, lawyers, and accountants to create and find the loopholes and special breaks that let big corporations off the hook for paying taxes.

It's rigged for the five biggest oil companies, which made $118 billion in profits last year -- and yet still collected billions of dollars worth of government subsidies.

It's rigged for multinational corporations, which get tax breaks to ship U.S. jobs overseas and stash their investments abroad.

And it's rigged for hedge fund managers and billionaires, who pay lower tax rates than their secretaries.

The Job Preservation and Sequester Replacement Act closes corporate tax loopholes so everyone pays a fair share. And it implements the Buffett Rule so that people who make more than $1 million a year pay it forward so the next kid has a chance to make it big.

This is a sensible way to deal with our financial problems. But I need your help to build national support that puts pressure on Congress to pass the plan.

Show your support for the Job Preservation and Sequester Replacement Act now.

We've stood up to the most powerful special interests before and won. Often it's an uphill battle -- and we don't always win.

But we fought to get to the Senate to stand up for programs like Head Start, Meals on Wheels, and medical research when not enough people in Washington do. And now is no time to stop fighting.

Thank you for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

Attack on Social Security:

It's come to this: A Democratic President is proposing to slash Social Security benefits while simultaneously handing over billions to defense contractors.

Did President Obama forget he just shellacked the Republicans in November? So why is he caving to Republicans before they even come to the negotiating table.

It was bad enough when his budget proposal put Social Security benefits on the chopping block. But his plan to boost military spending by $400 billion at the same time is right out of the Republican playbook.

We still know how to stand up for Democratic values. Join the thousands of DFA members calling on Congress to reject the President's dangerous proposal.

The White House says these cuts are a "good faith" proposal to Congressional Republicans. But there's nothing good about compromising our core progressive values, and nothing faithful about abandoning generations of Democratic legacy and leadership.

Remind Congressional Democrats: Real Democrats don't cut Social Security -- and they certainly don't do it to appease the radical right and defense contractors.

Real Democrats stand for all Americans, not just the privileged and well-connected.

Sign our petition today.

Thanks,

Arshad

Al Franken - U.S. Senator, Minnesota

Did you know that, in dozens of states, it’s legal to fire an employee just because he or she is gay or lesbian?

That’s insane. We’ve made too much progress toward equality for LGBT Americans to let such outright discrimination go unchecked at the workplace.

Discrimination has no place in our laws -- and no place at work. Click here to sign my petition, and let’s strike another blow for equality by protecting LGBT Americans in the workplace.

It’s already illegal for employers to discriminate against employees for reasons involving race, gender, national origin, or disability. Why should it be legal for sexual orientation (or gender identity, or gender expression) to be the reason someone gets fired?

And, by the way, why is this still an issue in the year 2013, especially when we’re making so much progress on marriage equality?

It shouldn’t be. And we can put an end to legal discrimination against LGBT employees. Democrats and Republicans agree that this kind of discrimination is wrong, and that it shouldn’t be legal. If you agree, too, I could use your help.

Click here to sign my petition and let’s stand up for LGBT rights in the workplace!

Anytime is a good time to make our country more fair and equal. But when it comes to workplace discrimination against LGBT Americans, the time to make it illegal was a long time ago.

We can’t afford to wait any longer. Sign the petition today.

Thanks for helping me take action,

Al

P.S.: Seriously, it’s insane that this kind of discrimination isn’t already illegal. But we can make up for lost time by getting this done now. Click here to sign my petition opposing discrimination against LGBT Americans in the workplace. Paid for and authorized by Al Franken for Senate 2014

I sent a reply to this letter:

The right to work legislation ( double speak ALEC ) also needs to be removed. As right to work is really about the employers right to fire without cause - anyone. LGBT, Union, Disabled, Elderly, Ethnic - ANYONE - For No Cause!!!

Also a term you might want to get familiar with - Democide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democide

Excerpt:

The objectives of such a plan of democide include the disintegration of the political and social institutions of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups; the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity; and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups.[7]

Coal to Clean Energy -- It's the Native American Way

For years, the Reid Gardner coal plant in Nevada has been causing misery for the Moapa Band of Paiutes by spewing toxic pollution across their reservation, which sits immediately adjacent to the plant. But thanks to a joint effort of the Moapa and the Sierra Club, the plant is now slated for retirement, and a new solar array is planned on tribal lands. On April 20, hundreds of tribal leaders, faith leaders, and citizens from across the Southwest joined the Moapa Band for a "Coal to Clean Energy Walk" from the Reid Gardner plant to the site of the solar array, which will be the largest in the nation on tribal lands.

See photos of the march and hear what members of the Moapa Band had to say.

Another small example of how fucked-up this country is:

The biggest banks in the country—the ones that wrecked our economy and cost millions of Americans their jobs—pay next to nothing on the debt they owe the government, while students pay nine times as much. That isn't right.

That's why I've introduced the Bank on Students Loan Fairness Act to let students take advantage of the same low rates offered to banks for one year while Congress finds a fair, long-term solution on student loan interest rates.

Will you add your voice in support of giving students the same deal as big banks? Click here to sign the petition.

The interest rate on federal subsidized Stafford student loans is set to increase from 3.4% to 6.8% on July 1st. If Congress doesn't act soon, millions of college students will see their student loan payments jump.

Some argue that it's too expensive to keep government loans at low interest rates, but the federal government makes low interest loans all the time—just not to everyone. Big banks can borrow money through the Federal Reserve discount window at a rate of about 0.75%.

That's why I started a petition on MoveOn's petition site which says:

Wall Street banks—the ones that wrecked our economy—should not be getting a better interest rate on their government loans than young people trying to go to college.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Unlike the big banks, students don't have armies of lobbyists and lawyers. But they do have us.

Let's do what's right and bank on students.

Thanks!

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg recently helped found a dark-money political group to push for immigration reform, but then the group started running ads favoring the proposed Keystone XL pipeline and drilling for oil in ANWR. Why?

Zuckerberg and his fellow corporate heavies want to boost senators they think are helping them on immigration. They think running these ads will help their allies, so all other concerns fly out the window.

It's another clumsy example of why ultra-wealthy individual and corporate interests shouldn't be able to buy influence in our democracy.

But there's something unusual about this particular example: If you have a Facebook account, you have leverage over Mr. Zuckerberg.

That's why we've joined forces with other progressive groups to build opposition on Facebook itself.

Go to Facebook and 'like' our new "Hey Zuckerberg: Pull your dirty ads" joint page to show Mark Zuckerberg your opposition to his dark-money ads.

As Progressives United, we're not stopping here. Until this is resolved, we will be discontinuing all our paid ads on Facebook.

Progressive partners like the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, 350.org, Presente.org, CREDO Action, and MoveOn.org will be joining us. We won't sit by while our advertising dollars go to fund a Washington power play completely at odds with our values.

Mr. Zuckerberg and his friends have every right to talk about the benefits of comprehensive immigration reform to the technology industry. But this back-door strategy does nothing but feed public distrust.

It's a shame, because Facebook has emerged as one of the true avenues for grassroots democracy.

But like any powerful grassroots platform, we don't need to spend money to make an impact there. We can unite instead, and take this fight right into the very house that Mark Zuckerberg built: Facebook.

Send a message to Mark Zuckerberg through his own creation: Facebook. 'Like' our new page telling him to pull his regressive dark-money ads today.

Thank you for uniting as a progressive,

Russ Feingold Founder Progressives United

Action & inaction - In compliment to the post:

"But I thought it was a done deal." So wrote a member in response to our campaign to collect 1 million public comments against Keystone XL.

But it isn't over — not by a long shot. The public comment may have closed, but the State Department has just begun to consider whether to approve Keystone XL. And thanks to you, we've given them an eyeful of things to consider. More than 5,000 individual donors chipped in to fill the metro station next door to the State Department with ads like this one. Can you back up that message by signing our petition to the State Department telling them to just say "NO" to Keystone?

If not for our loud protests, Keystone XL would have been a done deal years ago. Our petitions, rallies, letters to the editor and calls have made Keystone XL a household name and gotten a million public comments against Keystone.

But there was no guarantee the State Department would connect the tragic tar sands spill in Mayflower, Arkansas, last month to our comments opposing Keystone. So we made the connection impossible for them to miss by plastering it 10 feet wide on the floor and walls of the metro station where they commute every day. Click here to sign on to our effort and keep the pressure on to stop Keystone XL once and for all.

Soon, the decision will be in the hands of President Obama. And it's crucial to make the link between Keystone XL and the Mayflower spill. Exxon and their Big Oil buddies know that, which is why they worked so hard to suppress these images — threatening to arrest reporters, setting up no fly zones over the spill area, and hiding the information on more than 30 toxic chemicals released into the air after their spill.*

Thanks to thousands of members like you, we've made sure the State Department can't look away from these images; now we just need your name in support to drive the message home. Will you sign on to our new joint campaign to keep the pressure on President Obama to say "No to Keystone XL?"

For the planet,

Jesse Bacon, Field Organizer Environmental Action
