Forum Post: Boycott the Superbowl!

Boycotting the Superbowl would be an excellent way of making an impact. An event watched by 100 million viewers annually. An event where ad space is a premium. What better way to impact the 1% than to reduce the amount of people exposed to their ads designed to sell their products which in turn makes cash for the 1%.

Count me in but, frankly, your entreaty is not much of a sacrifice for me.

I am confused by many of the negative posts here. I think this is a legitimate idea. If you were serious missing one superbowl would be a small price to pay.

My company advertises during the Super Bowl. The goal is raise the awareness of our products and services. I would say: Boycott that which you will. Obviously, a person should not buy something that they truly do not want.

I support the free market.

Better yet watch the ads, then boycott the products.

Yes! All 20,000 of us CAN make a difference!

I'd boycott it just because Madonna is the half time entertainment.

You have got to be kidding? I love the Superbowl. If you enjoy something why would you want to boycott it? Why dont you boycott taking a crap?

"Turn off the TV!" counsels the Dalai Lama to his American audiences, with a wide grin.

He knows how HYPNOTIZED AND ADDICTED we have become to the "boob tube".

Most of American TV is part of a mass experiment in COLLECTIVE CRETINIZATION, probably unparalleled in human history.

The first revolutionary act that an American citizen can do is to CANCEL HIS CABLE SUBSCRIPTION.

In addition to FREEING HIM PERSONALLY from the powerful Propaganda Machine of the 1%, it constitutes a form of PROTEST of the 99% against the same 1%, that will hurt its bottom line.

Let's teach people to find their news - the REAL news - on their computer and start a CANCEL CABLE CAMPAIGN!

I like the commercials too. They have some really great ones for the best corporations. I love money.

Occupying the Super Bowl is another great idea.

[-] 0 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Kind of hard to get tickets for all of us now.

[-] 0 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Hahahaha

[-] 1 points by BonTon (57) 12 years ago

you're either serious about the movement or you're not

[-] 1 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

Pedantic much? Solidarity!

[-] 0 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Well I guess we could chance it and try for some scalps.

[-] 0 points by BonTon (57) 12 years ago

Yeah, great idea. Disrupting the Super Bowl would be an excellent way to gain the sympathies of the average Joe for your noble cause.

[-] 1 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

Yeah, I like it, too. Glad your sarcasm is that obvious is mine?

[-] 1 points by BonTon (57) 12 years ago

what makes you think I'm being sarcastic?

You people really don't realize who the 1% are, and how you really cannot hurt them.

No truer words have been spoken. They don't and could care less because they haven't done one thing to "change things".

Look what happens when you bring up the fact that Apple makes all its products overseas - they defend them because they use their products.

They have yet to understand what it means to "protest by picket" like the unions used to in the years gone by.
