Forum Post: Bernie Reacts to the SCOTUS Support of the Kochs

Posted 10 years ago on April 2, 2014, 5:23 p.m. EST by shoozTroll (17632)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Yes, according to libe(R)tarians. money IS everything.

"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) blasted the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday to abolish overall federal campaign spending limits, meaning that wealthy individuals now have carte blanche to spend as much as they like to affect the outcomes of federal elections.

“Freedom of speech, in my view, does not mean the freedom to buy the United States government,” said Sanders in a statement.

Wednesday’s 5-to-4 Court vote struck down limits on total amounts that individual donors can contribute to parties, candidates and political action committees within a two-year federal election cycle."

I can believe it. If the dems want any donations without calling this crap out, like Bernie, they'd better think twice and, that has always been their problem. They think we don't notice, but we do. As a matter of fact, I send cash to AARP, and AL. I'm going to tell them, no calling this shout out LOUDLY, no cash. It's like Al pointed out in his book - liberal talk C O N S E R V A T I V E T A L K. Because then the corporations won't give them any cash. However, I do notice 'the great disconnect' with people every day. I think it's time to find out who these corporations are and putting them on parade.

Yes, let's hope and OWS and The 99% must organise around this matter. Please see - ''McCutcheon Should Become A Rallying Cry for A Campaign to ‘End the Rule of Money’'', by K. Zeese & M. Flowers : http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article38198.htm - it is an excellent article that all with OWS sympathies should read. Never Give Up! Occupy Solidarity!

'They are literally buying our government, one legislator at a time. It is my hope that Republicans in the Senate will be as offended as the rest of us by this blatant attempt to extort their votes. Anyone who values our American democracy and who values the principals of a representative, one-person/one-vote republic should be outraged at this.' - is how your link ends. Sadly The Republican Party is utterly shameless, in Michigan, Ohio and everywhere else. On the matter of the Koch Brothers, see -

I've lost over 3,000 points in the last couple of months, for saying exactly that.

The Koch's?

I guess that's who employs them, as they really don't like me pointing out their activism.

Remember all the arguments over public unions and pensions in the early days of the forum? All the libe(R)tarian arguments against them?

Well, those folks never left. They just changed their tune a bit, but their masters are still VERY busy on that account.

http://www.publicintegrity.org/2014/04/25/14662/koch-brothers-major-corporations-sponsor-pension-reform-seminar-judges

[-] 7 points by Ache4Change (3340) 9 years ago

What 'them and they'? I'm not sure that I really understand you. Public pensions are opposed by Wall Street because they can't pilfer them as easily and Wall Street has captured both the electoral options. Where does that leave The 99%? I'll look at your link later and try to get back to you. Never Give Up! Occupy Wall Street! Solidarity.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 9 years ago

Them/they are those that have been intent on rabidly downvoting those who post information on the Koch's, ALEC, the SPN or any number of other corporate organizations.

With them/they, it's always about the politics.

Note, that I was voted down for the innocuous comment I made in response to you.

[-] 8 points by Ache4Change (3340) 9 years ago

I have posted about the Koch brothers here and not been downvoted. It seems that what you are experiencing must be something personal. I have upvoted you but I suspect that that is little or no consolation, so pay no heed to negativity and just post what you think is right and true here.

Never Give Up On The 99%! Occupy The Issues! Solidarity.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 9 years ago

I would believe the real difference is that I have no qualms with pointing out their connections to libe(R)tarians and their anti 99% causes.

(They founded "American" libe(R)tarianism, and their father founded the John Birch Society)

As well as the many organizations they use to achieve their activism. there are some here who refuse to believe, they are activists at all.

My guess, is that they see you as harmless to those causes.

[-] 7 points by Ache4Change (3340) 9 years ago

So I'll consider myself damned with faint praise then! I'm guessing that 'harm' is as 'ha(R)m' does.

Activists against Kochs!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/10/01/1333639/-Activists-fight-Kochs-North-Carolina-voter-nbsp-suppression?detail=email

"This is a regionally based effort, with local volunteers that can build relationships and do the work on the ground to combat the Kochs. And they're not alone. For example, CREDO SuperPAC is in the state with a ground effort, and the Nuns on the Bus will take their bus tour to several North Carolina cities. This cycle, they're focusing on voter education and on canvassing in low-income neighborhoods to get out the vote. "

[-] 4 points by flip (7101) 9 years ago

well thanks for that but wtf - how about something of substance on your debt question - no time??

[-] -2 points by 99nproud (2697) 9 years ago

Debating "the debt" is what tea party libertarians want. They ran it up so that they could make the argument/effort to cut all programs that help the 99%.

I prefer the counter argument that Occupy joined and resuscitated when we successfully moved the national dialogue away from the extremist right wing plan to "starve the beast" with forced cuts and phony fear mongering on "the debt", & engaged with demands for an end to pro corporatist policies, investing in people, correcting economic equality, & personal debt relief, tax justice. etc.....

Kochs, ALEC, AynRandism, extreme libertarianism, ultra conservative policies are the reason for this economic disaster victimizing the 99%.

"the debt" can be paid by the 1% who created & benefit most from it.

F@ck the debt, I say discuss the occupy supported issues thataffect the 99%.

Are you going to answer the question I posed to you in my response to your question?

I ask, because it's a tiresome tradition with you not to.

[-] -2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 9 years ago

Hush now.

Folks around here, only pretend to like Sen. Sanders.

He makes far too much sense, and would be considered a "parDisan" around here.

It's hard for them to understand that sometimes, reality is "parDisan".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qewu698dG0A&feature=youtu.be

And whatever you do, don't tell the truth about libe(R)tarians.

They really, really HATE and FEAR that.

Robert Reich reacts.

"If wealth and income weren’t already so concentrated in the hands of a few, the shameful “McCutcheon” decision by the five Republican appointees to the Supreme Court wouldn’t be as dangerous. But by taking “Citizen’s United” one step further and effectively eviscerating campaign finance laws, the Court has issued an invitation to oligarchy."

No dissenting comments to the thread by the capitalist fried man guy, from them either.

But they want to play like they are the only ones who know what it's all about?

I can recall them ganging up on people, but they forgot all about that.

I've gone back in the archive and seen the results of their nefarious behavior.

I've banned several of them multiple times and watched them come back again and again to perform the very same behaviors, all while still ignoring those Occupy links.

Then we could be the ones to mete it out as we see fit, instead of them finding a way to charge us for it.

After all, they don't think access to clean water is a right. Air about the same thing and they as just as busy poisoning that too.
