Forum Post: banning

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 4, 2011, 11:01 p.m. EST by demonstrator (167)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

i am a newbie, a few hours here-

i would like anyone banned who doesn't want to join this movement against oppression.

This is not a discussion group-where those of differing opinion's, are welcome.

this web page is for organizing and training people who want to join the resistance against injustice.

injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere-mlk

i say, they are either for us or against us- ban them.

we need to stay focused- on the issue at hand- and not be distracted by those who wish to confuse and confound the issue.

please ban them. please please please.

It would be too difficult to decide the lines between troll, really against us, against us but wants to hold a discussion, more moderate than we are, and more moderate than an individual. We need to be open to everyone, share with each other, and try to be understanding. Perhaps those with wildly different views than the protest could find less instigative ways of putting their ideas out there, perhaps we could react less to the trolls. But attention is attention whether negative or positive. If these people are taking the time to post in here, that means they find us a big enough threat.

Eh, I think the abuse is productive, they're taking the time to mock the movement, hence recognizing it. the more attention, the better, IMO. If a portion of the 99% want to abuse the board as opposed to offer solutions (which most people will do), let them.

On another note, maybe having the board sortable by comments on a post would be more beneficial.

Agreed, it would be good to have be able to sort/filter posts as the user decided. I'm sure the admins have their hands full as it is though.

True, the traffic going through this site has to be crazy...they're doing great work considering.

No way. If we claim to represent the 99% then we'd better be inclusive of people we don't agree with. I'm probably too moderate for a lot of people's taste, perhaps you would ban me for not being "with you" (wherever your are).

Personally, I find troll comments unproductive. I live near one. He spends all day on twitter and various sites copying and pasting the same talking point or article for hours. Responding to posts with derisive comments copied and pasted from a word document filled with one liners. Never clicking links to articles provided. He isn't interested in knowledge, facts or concepts. He worships at the altar of Glenn Beck. Sad.

The criticism from the trolls keeps us in check! Makes us reassure ourselves of our goals. And helps us notice when we go to far.

The forum has been put on Infowars and Alex Jones is saying that you are working for the NWO and are Socialists, many of the people attacking you right now are coming from Infowars.

Outright abuse is unproductive to discussion, but it's nice to know that someone's panties are in a twist over what we're doing!

It is important to have criticisms voiced, but outright abuse is unproductive
