Forum Post: Auction the presidency

I think it's time to change how we select a president. Instead of sham elections and campaigns, we ought to auction off the presidency, which is what we do now in a round-about way.

All the money saved in the tedious, meaningless campaigns and the sham elections could be used to buy back all the foreclosed houses and distribute them to the homeless; buy food and distribute it to the hungry; buy healthcare for all the people that do without.
