Forum Post: Are we going to Occupy Black Friday?

Hello Occupiers! I am wondering if there has been any action called thus far for Black Friday. It seems like a powerful opportunity to protest the corporate greed and mindless spending that is encouraged by such a "holiday" (on which people have DIED in past years in their haste to spend).
As Drew Dellinger says, "we need some global citizens for some sit-ins again."
What if we were to all go out to these big box stores and bring our signs and just SIT-IN as the shoppers run through their Black Friday madness? Peaceful, silent, sit-ins to bring attention to this holiday as a sign of the extreme of materialism and mindless spending that we have been driven to as a culture.

Good Idea Katia, Someone should send somone out with a camera and ask why it's legal to camp outside a store to buy things.
I am leading a group of Occupiers to block access to Abercrombie/Fitch in NYC.
you all have computers, ipads, smartphones, etc. you are all the same. mindless conformists doing as you're told. fucking apologists. keep in line sheep. keep the photos to show your children. Look! I was part of something, I did something meaningful! you are part of the herd...congratulations, you will be forgotten. i would say you should learn to make up your own mind...but you can't muster the strength to turn off the t.v. filthy scum.
A great observation, Katia, and a fine idea. Sadly for me, I will be in La Paz bolivia for Black Friday, where the big box stors are unknown altogether. There is not even a McDonalds to protest. Could it be they are onto something down here? Since you have to choose where to sit, may I suggest that MOST un American of box stores, Wal-Mart?
