Forum Post: Are the Occupiers really just useful idiots?

Is government allowing the protests to continue because the protestors are going after business instead of government thereby deflecting blame away from government?

The Tea Party was demonized by the media (government) because they wanted fundamental change in government. Does the OWS gets away with murder (literally) because it isn't called Occupy Washington?

Even the dullest liberal can see the difference in the way the two groups are portrayed in the media, do you ever get the feeling, deep down inside, that you really are just a "useful idiot"?

I think what happened, is the tea party got sucked up by the republican party. Thereby alienating the rest of the country.

Yes, much as the Democratic party is in the process of sucking up OWS.

I'm sure the democratic party would like to. But it's very unlikely that occupiers would allow that to happen.

I think they already are allowing it to happen by accepting endorsements of MoveOn and unions. It creates the perception, true or not, that Occupy is the Dem Tea Party.

That perception is enough to keep conservatives and independents away, thus preventing the majority of the people from banding together in their common interests which transcend party lines.

Take a look at the encampments, rallies, and GA's. See many conservatives there? I sure don't.

I agree that there is that image. But that is why it is important to keep telling people that that image i not correct. Occupy is not promoting any political party or person.

I suspect this is the case.

Nonetheless, Occupy has started people talking with each other about the state of the country and it remains to be seen what offshoot movements may arise.
