Forum Post: Are Greed and Egos Ruining Occupy?

As many others here are, I am also concerned about the internal sabotage. It seems a few can run things but then create a hierarchy and club anyway. 3 people in the last week and a half who claim to be ardent Occupiers and activists also claim sponsorship by politicos, bragging to me of monies and support from Washington, senators etc. They seem to have joined to boss others and get the glory, while downplaying others' importance and contributions. And to gain POWER. Very self serving. I can't even be heard above the din of their egos bloating. Others confuse personal relations with social duties they themselves volunteer for. For instance today I am po'd because I had info in a legal matter NO ONE wants to hear, especially the involved person's significant other, since she wants to dominate all efforts and essentially keep all the glory, and the person's dependence. There are too many like that. I like credit for what I do, and not others' efforts, that is their contribution and I have mine. There needs to be cohesion, the actual sharing of the directorate, less monopolizing of control and frankly the funds and resources, as some have profited while others beg. I am heartily tired of the guys who pretend to be broke and throw on the same old smelly clothes to look poor, as if that's all they have. BS. I wonder if they think they are better? The gladhanding and simpering attempts at mirroring don't annoy everyone and tip others off after a while. What happened to the farms, no one I knew ever was 'allowed' to go! It seems the money was siphoned off and integrity sold within as without Occupy. Bypassing egos and faults, we can work together and create a physical reality of the visions, merging the planes and making our Utopia. It is further away and questionable, as too many of us are excised and personal wants and prejudices rule the day.

Very good thread, 'pigeonlady'.

"Are Greed and Egos Ruining Occupy?"

Very good question. My personal opinion, is that the answer to that is a resounding 'yes'...and it may be responsible for the now very low functionality of this forum as is questioned in the linked thread.

The next natural questions I have after the obvious "Why?" are...

How intentional is all this?

And...

What (possibly pre-infiltrated) 'movement' or 'revolutionary platform" (if anything), do they have ready to be ushered in as the answer to the possibly (intentionally allowed to languish) finished Occupy forum and/or movement?

Hmmmm...

And......In what way (if any), are WE playing into, and being used to help usher it in??

Hm.

less ambiguity

Any less ambiguity and I wouldn't have a questioning mind. Cast a wide net and whittle down from there.

That's just the way I roll, darlin'.

You have to start with at least 2 solid, trustworthy people. If you don't know if a person can be trusted, leave the person alone in a room where 50 dollars in ones and fives is left in plain view or hidden simply in an unlocked drawer.People who are looking to take advantage of situations will probably take some or all of that money. If you leave a pile of small bills adding up to 100 in plain view, obviously they can't take it all.The temptation to grab a few 10's is too much for most people. If you think along these lines, you can avoid getting involved with the wrong people. The cost of losing some money in the test is well worth it because getting involved with the wrong people can do vast damage.
