from Naked Capitalism > Illargi:
"I don't think you can argue that capitalism itself is the issue. This is about the erosion of checks and balances, laws and regulations, the erosion of a society's ability to hold people responsible for what they do, whether they operate in the political field or in private business.
"And those same issues are just as relevant in any communist or socialist society. Unless you're very careful day after 24/7 day, all political systems tend towards ceding control to ever more psychopathic individuals. In the exact same way that bad money drives out good. In short, it's not about 'them', it's about us. It's the psychos who want that power and that money more than anyone else, but it's us who let them have it. While we're watching some screen or another."
It's true: the control freaks are psychopaths and the problem is that we cede our power to them because 'That's just who they are!' But that's not the whole truth. Built in to capitalism is the profit of banks and billionaire investors in debt and product flow that take debilitating percentages of economic transactions large and small. The profits of BIG CAPITAL are a drag on the real economy that distributes necessary goods and services. While banking and investment are necessary, their excessive profits are harmful to the process they are supposed to facilitate. So much so that they are more damaging today than all the tyrants and terrorists since the beginning of civilization. They're the most dangerous enemy and threat to survival the human race has ever faced. The answer is to confiscate their ill gotten gains and do all financial services of, by and for the people on a non profit basis. That's the best way to reduce the costs imposed and parasitization by psycho elites.
