Hey Guys! I had no opinion about this issue despite strong feelings around me against it until I came to your site. It seems to me that this thing is driven more on emotion then reality, but I don't know for sure yet #notenoughresearch. Is there any strong, reputable evidence for your claims? Any difference between a communist government and the government you want? What do you believe is the purpose of a government? etc.

I spent about 45 minutes to an hour on this site and couldn't find anything or anyone that could/would answer these questions. This is my last attempt. Is there a different official site?

Hey, guy. All the grown-ups are at work. I find better conversation as it gets later. I beleive the kids that occupy are hell-bent on marginalizing themselves but I have found alot of intelligent people are here hoping for possible demands, objectives, or leaders. We have emotion ABOUT reality and are trying to distill our broader view points into something we can put into action for change. I started a forum for more moderate supporters because of all the talk of socialism and communism on here. I'm a techno-dummy so i can't link it but look for "Moderate Members...HELP!!!!!" as the forum name. I'll bring it back up to the top, so it should be easy to find hopefully..

No one who claims to speak for OWS in an official capacity (or otherwise) will answer direct questions, no matter how many times they are asked by however many different people. Among questions that will not be answered or are met with vague or hostile answers:

  1. Why can we work within the current political system for change? When asked, you'll get responses like: "it's broken" or "it's corrupted." Yes, that may be true, but I don't think the majority of Americans will support a complete overthrow of the government, no matter how unhappy they are with the way things work now. And how would we know we could not fix the system by working within it if we've not tried?

  2. How much money have OWS actually taken in cash donations, how much and what kinds of supplies have been donated? What are the cash funds being used for? This came up when an "urgent" call for Winter supplies came after the recent northeastern storm was already in effect. With a reported 500k in donations, questions were asked as to why they could not use some of the money collected for these urgent Winter supplies? I personally asked why couldn't people who were occupying in NYC return to their homes and get supplies they needed so as to lessen the burden on donations. I was not given an answer. Those who asked such questions were met with hostility and called trolls.

  3. If OWS actually won, what would the country look like politically? What social programs would be in place and how would they be paid for? If our current system is broken, what system would you replace it with? Then arguments take place about Marxism and Libertarian Socialism and flat out Socialism and Direct Democracy start taking place, they get very heated and sometimes nasty.

  4. What are your goals and what is your plan for change? Those questions are never met with any concrete answers.

I'm not an overly critical person, I'm really poor and would like to see change happen, but I don't support the overthrow of the government. All I want is a list of goals and a plan for implementing them. I want transparency about what kind of money OWS has, I want to know how they are spending it. I want to hear this from someone who can officially speak for OWS. Thus far, nothing has been said.
