If I may, the current status quo in "medical marijuana" law is good neither for the barely-legal dispensary nor the unsure government. Instead of getting angry about Obama's efforts to uphold the FDA's mandates on medication approval, start lobbying your local representatives for an overhaul of marijuana laws.
What i'm upset about is that he specifically said he wouldn't use federal resources to shut-down and prosecute dispensary owners and he clearly lied. Coincidentally and we're gearing up for the 2012 election. I should point out that as a former resident of Colorado, during 2008/2009, in a lot of small towns, dispensaries are the only thing that stopped the towns from going into the negative.
I understand your frustration. Interestingly, the drug trade (both the semi-legal dispensaries and the illegal narcotics trade) actually propped up some industries during the financial meltdown, as they still had liquid capital.
I agree that he should have been more transparent about his intentions, but I think that everyone thought marijuana decriminalization was an issue we would be able to address in the short term. Now that the dialogue is completely consumed by the economy, I can see the rationale behind trying to normalize the dispensary situation. If it's any consolation, there's probably a lot of behind-the-scenes arguing between the Feds and the states. It might work out.
He is worse than Bush. At least Bush told you where he was gonna stick it. With Obama, you don't know what's happening until your rear is sore.
Actually before the 2000 election when Bush was a "compassionate conservative" he said he was going to leave medical marijuana up to the states but i knew that was a lie - Obama I actually believed on this issue...
Man is there no end to the lies! I mean really this guy is 4 more years of Dubya. I guess all the other states are next and if you don't comply you will end up on an assassination list.
