Forum Post: Another Kind of Pearl Harbor

(Note: nearly all of the words are from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Infamy” speech that was given after the invasion of Pearl Harbor in 1941. The anonymous author changed a few key parts to reflect current conditions.)

October 3, 2008 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was deliberately attacked by an alliance among the Congress, the President, and Wall Street by the enactment of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. This Act was enacted in defiance of the will of the American People. Prior to that date and over a longer period of time the people of America were systematically defrauded by a Wall Street mortgage scheme which required Congressional legislation to relax certain banking oversight rules.

Wall Street has, therefore, with the aid of the Executive and Legislative branches of government undertaken an offensive extending throughout the World Economy. The facts speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated form of deceit and thievery, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe that I interpret the will of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

With the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God.

I ask that the people declare that, since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Wall Street and the Federal Government, a state of war has existed between the people and the Wall Street Empire and its government stooges.
