In Japan a few years back, two marines, one sailer abducted a 12 year old girl, beat her and raped her. She suffers to this day. They were given a slap on the wrist because we occupy an Island in Japan.

Far fewer rapes in the military than there are in our own neighborhoods. And you can thank Old George directly for that one - rape had long been a weapon of warfare; more succinctly, it is a weapon of conquest.

I don't condone rape in the least bit. But to try to make one happening at OWS more significant than any other one isn't fair. To me it seems to be a cheap tactic to discredit the movement.

I will concede your point but this is not the first report I have heard of rapes within the movement encampments in the media. I've also heard reports that some of these crimes to include rape have not been reported to authorities because the victims felt that it would diminish the cause if the police got involved.

Honestly though, have you met a woman that hasn't said she's been raped? I've dated probably 9 women in the last 6 or 7 years, and the one thing they all have in common aside from being crazy was that they've "been raped". I think the threshold of what is considered a rape and what isn't differs between the sexes. Quite possibly between the generations.
Any chick that gets drunk at a bar and throws herself at a guy, knowing full well that they'll probably get it on can say she was raped because she was drunk. HE WAS DRUNK TOO.
I think most women lie about it. They don't want to feel "easy" and so they use the alcohol or drugs or whatever to excuse themselves. And hey, I can always say I was raped!
