Being new to this forum, I'm extremly baffled by the thought of this 99% class of people and the 1% class of people. Upon reading many ideological books written within the last few centuries, one can guarentee you that there is ABSOLUTELY NO 99% class of people, for that would vanquish the middle class. For example, many people from all over the country, even some from other countries, have "migrated" to Wall St. However, does anybody work? Or are most of the protesters predominantly the children of MIDDLE CLASS families, who own there own business, house, and most likely a vacation houses in very clean and sterile Super Suburban communities where a theft of a bag of chips at a convenience store would have the local authorities in an uproar? Not to mention the "free ride" that college students get, meaning that, unlike the rest of us (the 55%+) who MUST find a job of ANY kind to simply eat and have a roof over our heads, they get to extend their childhood years until their mid 20s? This top 1% that you speak of is MOST DEFINATELY the root cause of all international societies. Every ill that you can think of as a matter of fact. However, that top 1% is THE EASIEST to destroy once you knock down that entire "2 classes" theory. All you have to do is get workers to comply. They DO NOT even have to strike, they just simply have to realize that all you need to survive is bread, water, peanut butter, and maybe a multivitamin if someone is very health conscious, and simply NOT BUY ANY products until all production is put into the hands of the workers. In order to do that, it is a MUST that all the groups involved in this protest put down their "sophisto" language and speak the language of the people who are oppressed. You WOULD not learn Mandarin to make your trip to Spain any easier. That is why college kids ALWAYS fail in the long run. It's the failure to communicate and speak our language.

The reason is that many people within this seem to be VERY well to do young men and women who had dreams to be "important" when they became older. Important obviously meaning whatever that specific individual deems important. It seems that some of these people are realizing that their dreams are, in reality, unobtainable because technology is so rapidly changing that if you enter college in 2011 for a specific job, by 2016 that job may very well be out of existance, or those whose parents owned a "mom and pop" store may be put out of business by an invading corporation, therefore the child will not be able to inherit the store or business. If this is the case, its simply not an action, but a bourgeoisie temper tantrum.

How is OWS getting in touch with the 55%+ in our society, such as myself? By the 55%+ I'm obviously speaking of the working class (high and low paid workers or unemployed), who knew from the first day of conscious memory as children that dreams were just that. Dreams. We are the people that feel that YOU are the top 1% because you had the oppurtunity to go to college.

It seems that working class neighborhoods are over looked by what most would call "leftist" groups or organizations. Meaning that our neighborhoods are mostly utilized by "leftists" to exploit their cause. How come, before the OWS protests began, I have NEVER seen anyone handing out fliers around the cities I've lived in to promote their cause and recruit workers? Ulitimately, when it comes down to it, you must realize that going after the top 1% by getting through to the middle 30% will change absolutley NOTHING.

I like what you guys and gals are doing, but maybe you might want to pump up your efforts to gain the acceptance of the bottom 50%. After all, we are the ones that in the end everything will depend on, unless you are in favor of a middle class Communist takeover, which would ignore us until you got control, then enslave us by FORCING us work for basic human needs, and creating a more drastic form of "spectator politics" amongst the masses.

Everyone looks at the ones who have more than them to manifest their own idea of "rich and wealthy". If the top 1% is who you look at, then you've actually BENEFITED from this society, because in the world of the working class, kids that go to college or people that own their own businesses (some workers even say those who own their own homes even) ARE OUR 1%.

I know what you guys are saying and agree. I'm speaking of what I see and hear working class people speak about everyday, and most workers are in favor of what people would call "right wing" politics. The "right" is very cut and dry (immigrants bad, blacks crime, Jews rich, this act will put more money in your wallet, etc), but unfortunatly they speak the language of the worker and put there cause in a legible format for us to understand.

Forgive me for being simplistic, but I believe the 1% is in reference to the concept of a few individuals with unfathomable amounts of money and connected positions who call the shots in most aspects of the non-lucky people's lives. Our aristocracy of the new world, as it were. So the resistance is concerning itself with re positioning the power into the people's hands. How that is accomplished is up to debate and consensus.
