Forum Post: An Easy Rule of Thumb (Prevent the Co-Opting of this movement)

Do not trust the words of ANYONE trapped inside the left-vs-right paradigm. Support of the paradigm is support of the status quo.

Take note of where they place the blame.

The left-vs-right paradigm is just one of the ways the elites seek to group and divide us, as they have countless other peoples of the world, and reap the profit created through our conflict.

Exactly. Mr. Politician, if you want to support us then put some legislation on the table and get it passed. Till then, we have heard all your fancy speeches and promises...all of which came to nothing but words. As for the Unions...they formed themselves from just this kind of action and we welcome their support, but not their direction. Same with MoveOn.ogr...love to have you with us but stay out of our way.

Yes - anyone can join, nobody can lead.

agreed... quickest way to end this

You are correct in that viewing this as a left- right, republican - democrat, or anything else is divide and conquer tactics. There are probably as many republicans who are marching with us as democrats...just not the hard core ones. In truth, what we are seeking is ECONOMIC JUSTICE. Stopping the Corporations and other power brokers from feeding on us without rules or conscience. To get ECONOMIC JUSTICE we turned to the Congress Critters...and they failed us. Now it is time to take things to the streets and DEMAND ECONOMIC JUSTICE. The thing is, make it plain that we will not stop until it is changed...not just the promise of change. We have heard the lies and promises before. Now we want ACTION.

There are also food co-ops, credit unions (look for those with a lot of member input), and swaps. If your area has a farmers' market, use it. Be sure to ask where stuff comes from. You want to support local farmers, not big bus and truck operations masquerading as farmers.

Second, not all companies are bad. One of the biggest problems with the corporate personhood bunkum is that smaller business are hurt at the expense of the too-big-to-fail behemoths. Smaller businesses have been hurt, too.

The left vs right paradigm aligns perfectly with the Democrat vs Republican paradigm, which is intimately related obviously to the corrupt two-party system that put our nation where it is today. It has to be abandoned.

communists/ anti communists, republicans, liberals, socialists, marxists, anti marxists... anybody fighting for an ideology is a pwn of the corporate oligarchy.

The movement has already been co-opted. Once major unions and organizations like MoveOn.org are involved, it has been co-opted.

There is no movement. This has been planned and organized from top down from the very start. There is nothing spontaneous about this.

That's not true. Support is support. Get out in the streets and convince people to do what you think is best. No one at MoveOn or any union is calling any shots.

The only recourse is to co-opt their co-opt.

Go to the Occupy movement with what you believe to be the truth, and spread it. Many of your ideas are right, and many of them are wrong. No one person has all the facts or all the answers, but through discussion, debate, education, conversation, and celebration we can bring together our minds and rid them of the falsehoods and ideological traps the elite have used to divide us.

Understand this: a truth once realized cannot be denied.

The truth will stand on it's own, and once realized, all of us will be of the same goals.

Not unless those organizations start calling the shots. That hasn't happened. It's not likely to, either. No network has been hyping this movement for weeks before anyone gathered. Billionaires aren't providing seed money.

Unions and many members of Move On are a part of the 99%, They have a right to a voice, and it doesn't look like they are trying to make theirs the sole voice.

Union bosses are part of your 1%. They are VERY entrenched with both government officials and Wall Street. MoveOn.org is also loaded with multimillionaires in what you describe as the 1%.

They are not calling the shots yet. At least not openly.

For now it is best to leave the illusion that their is no leadership. The illusion that no one is calling the shots. They key word being illusion.

What proof do you have that MoveOn is "loaded with millionaires." I cannot find anything to back up that assertion.

probably true.
