Forum Post: An alternate scenario

What if, instead of giving the loot to banks, the gov't had given it to consumers to pay off loans, mortgages, etc?

Gov't->consumers->banks, oh my!

Either way the banks get it, but the economy is currently in failure mode in part because consumers don't have money to spend. In the scenario above consumers would have had money to spend.

Some say consumers are too irresponsible to do such a thing, but that argument has gone out the window because banks are obviously equally or more irresponsible.
