Forum Post: Add public financing of elections to list of demands

I have heard that OWS has a draft list of demands. If there were only one demand it should be take the money out of the political system. Money is not FREE speech. Money does not provide equal access to the system. We know this has to be demand #1. thanks

instead make govt so limited that no business bothers to give lots of money as they cannot get any favors. if u ban donations then u it will go underground

This has got to go. It would take a legislative act. Who would openly be against cutting deep pocket funding for elections?
My advice as someone who has studied the media and politics most of my life:
In the future legislation, attempts to subvert democracy through use of money need to be considered what they are: treason.
Now, I am against the death penalty, but that is the maximum sentence treason holds. You watch how quickly the deep pockets would work to get rid of the death penalty.
