Many industries necessary for our survival can be automated to produce greater abundance and this abundance (supply) would lower the selling price for food, and energy companies and eliminate the need of labor for income lifestyles. But unconstrained automated production would threaten profit.

Most products could be designed to last much longer, be easily upgradeable, environmentally friendly, healthier, and/or safer based on available technologies. But durability and high quality threatens profit.

Companies could openly provide customers with all the relevant information on their products/services but this goes against many companies biased marketing campaigns. But complete honesty in advertising threatens profit.

Businesses and white collar employers can absorb financial hits to their company without laying off their employees, cutting their pensions/benefits. But to actually care about workers threatens profit.

A tremendous number of jobs can be created through alternative energy projects alleviating our dependence on fossil fuels. But to do so would threaten established energy company profits.

The government can take all the money wasted on war and devote such careless spending on efforts for environmental preservation, sustainability, research and development, improved education, manufacturing, mass transportation, preventive medicine, etc. And again all these things are enemies of profit.

Society has enslaved itself in the pursuit of profit. America has More than enough resources but will never, and I repeat NEVER have enough money to fix all the major issues we face today. Money is a fictitious social contract and there really is no 'financial future' if resources continue to be ignored, misused, and people abused. This nation's standard of living depends on its access to resources, not its fictitious financial status. Remember this as the global economy continues to collapse.

God forbid the serfs attain a measure of economic security. The worst case scenario is that people who should know their place all of a sudden get uppity.

A very thoughtful post.

The most instant "fix" for the Europeans and Americans who are run by Stupid Whit Men, is a war with Iran.

A war with Iran will immediately see oil prices shoot through the roof.

This will mean the equivalent of a tax on every human on the planet and a huge flood of petro dollars into the banking system ,

This will be fresh laundered cash, deposits that will immediately improve debt rations and voila! no more financial liquidity problems for the banks.

So Iran needs to be bombed quick to bail out the STUPID WHITE MAN

Wars maintain the status quo.

They never have and never will progress society forward. It's time for Western countries to start taking the ethical implications of their actions seriously.

They have the choice to mobilize resources for peace or for self-destruction. Co2 levels/fictitious debts, tensions are rising, fresh water tables/arable land/fossil fuel reserves are dropping.
