Forum Post: Abolish the "Conspiracy Theory" Moderating Rule

The term "conspiracy theorist" is used to marginalize independent journalists and researchers. It should be considered as offensive as any racist or sexist language. It essentially says that being a free thinker makes you a nut and you should be marginalized without even considering your ideas. It is wrong to ban alternative thinkers even if you don't agree with them.

To have a list of names of people who are enemies to the movement is EXTREMELY wrong. Blacklists and the banning of ideas and literature is morally indefensible. Is the OWS going to have book burnings now too?!? McCarthy had a blacklist. OWS should not have a blacklist. It is wrong.

"I consign to the flames the writings of Heinrich Mann, Ernst Gläser, Erich Kästner.”

  • Joseph Goebbels

"Lyndon LaRouche, David Duke or Alex Jones will be removed immediately"

  • Occupy Wall Street

You would call David Duke a freethinker?

No, of course not, he's a jerk. But I'm totally confident his ideas would quickly fail to influence anyone here.

Wait a second, why would mentions of Alex Jones be removed? Is OWS already hijacked? 9/11 was an inside job, people. USA = police state These are obvious facts to all who scratch the surface.

Agree! conspiracy theorist is a negative label used by the media like others ant-American, terrorist, radical, anarchist, ant-military etc.. they are empty labels that allows the media the ability of not having to back up their accusations.. deeming it mere silliness when in actuality it is the TRUTH....in most cases evidentiary documentation is found but not covered in the mainstream media. It is sad that "conspiracy theories" are prohibited here and it is a shame the word is being used here in the same mainstream manner. Forums on the OWS movement are available elsewhere. sometimes moving to a different forum may be the best move.
