I was looking at the map and seeing where my closest compatriots are, which got me thinking maybe do the same here, in the SF Financial District, in LA's FD etc...
I don't want to discourage you two, but I'm every bit as far as you guys, if not more (seattle). Seriously, it's really not that expensive to hop on a bus and it's looking like we're gonna need everyone we can get. If you can't do it, you can't do it, but if it's possible, I'd make my way there.
While I do think it's great if people come from all the way across the country to join up, there's plenty of people who wouldn't be able to make the trip but could participate in something closer. That said, there's a limit to that, and if we set something up it would probably be best to pick one west coast city and stage a massive gathering there, rather than several smaller local events. When people see what we're doing, local rallies may form in support, but we want as strong a showing as possible in one place to start.
That said, San Fransisco might be a good place to look at if we can find a suitably symbolic venue. It would have a large local population that would be sympathetic, and it would be that much closer than LA for Northwest folks.
As a Nevadan, our state's financial situation is getting worse and worse; it's important to me that I help rally other Nevadans and this is a good chance to do that. I hope to get out to NYC sometime during the occupation but for now I have to start within my community. I am doing what I can to help the NYC group from here though.
