WE SHALL OVERCOME

A Doctrine for the 99%

The 99% Doctrine is as follows:

Quality education for all: Every American has the right to a quality education which includes adequate facilities, qualified teaching professionals, and support services for students to ensure they receive the full benefit of their education.

Infrastructure revitalization: The rebuilding and modernization of our utilities, transportation networks, and government facilities is key to America’s long-term success and competitiveness. Properly staffed public and social service sectors are essential for the safety of our communities and the function of our society.

Fair and Equitable Taxation: It essential to our economic and national stability that our tax code be simplified, loop holes closed, and rates set to ensure that citizens pay in accordance with that which they take from the public square.

Investment in Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Job creation depends on the development of new industry and business, which requires a significant public investment and policies that encourage private investment. It is vital to develop and support new businesses to create jobs for our growing population.

Environmental Protection: There will be no economy without an environment; the protection of our natural resources and landscape is critical to ensuring economic stability, quality of life, and the freedom to enjoy the wilderness.

The America of opportunity, of hard work rewarded, of equality, of freedom, is in decline and under assault from those who value profit over liberty. I am part of the 99% of people who get out a grind to get mine, and I wont allow my opportunity to be a commodity sold to me. To the corporations of this country and around the world, we the people of these United States are not profit points in your bottom line, we are not your valued customers, and as members of your organization we are not satisfied. You work for us, you abide by the laws we choose, you operate at our convenience, and you owe us a significant debt. We don’t want to see the demise of all corporations; we want to see the rise of good business practices. If you are corrupt, ship our jobs to foreign countries and employ immoral labor practices, pollute our environment, or make it so that we cannot open our own business then your days of doing business are numbered. I am part of the 99% of people that believe in freedom, democracy, and justice for all.

After reading this, I am even more annoyed by the media outlets who keep saying that OWS needs to have a cohesive message. This sounds very practical and cohesive to me... wait, this wasn't funded by Goldmann Sachs? Never mind, it must then be "Un-American" .... Good post, I'm checking out iPolitic Global next
