I post at our local forum, forums.pueblochieftain.com, which is mostly conservative republicans. I post trying to help explain this movement. Since I started, I've been accused of being a liberal idiot, pot-smoking kid, uneducated, stupid, a thief, and a FELON, and indirectly threatened that I'll be shot because I am one of the 99%. Every time I try to explain something, they twist it around making me out to be some sort of evil person. It blows me away how misinformed they are. Is anyone else finding this to be true in their communities?
This is why you shouldn't try to recruit the Right. I hate to say it like this but there is a large portion of the Right that is hopelessly brainwashed and lost for ever. There is no need to bring these people in. The Republicans that can actually think for them self, they will come and ask questions and decide if they support the occupy movements or not.
I was just talking with a Conservative and he seemed to agree with what the occupy movement is about, fixing our broken system. He was also turned off and being pushed away by all the political rhetoric.

I'm amazed at how misinformed OWSers are as well as conservative trollers. The problem in my view is that we make too many extreme statements. We should just stick to making statements about things which we think we can defend with information and logic. I see people on here all the time spouting nonsense about neoliberals and zionist slimeballs. It's inefficient to use these loaded terms. Just as conservatives are quick to label OWEsers as "communists and socialist" It's all bullshit. Just say something that you think with regard to specific policy. For example, if you are against the citizens united decision. We can then quantify an argument based on facts and opinions with reference to specific facts. If you just log on and say 'you are an idiot' or 'you are obviously misinformed' it doesn't mean anything. There's a difference between misinformed and just plain belligerent. I call it like I see it. If I see someone call a group of thousands of people "idiots", I say you have defeated your purpose. Because to be an idiot means to do things which counteract your own goals. And since you have just insulted thousands of people you don't know, you have proven not that they are idiots, but that you have made a stupid assumption based on absolutely no first hand information. Call them out in an intelligent way and don't sew anger into your comment and I think they will back down because they will feel stupid. In fact, most times, when I do this, they have nothing to say. Because I've seen through the bullshit and told them so such that the jig is up.
don't waste your time with them. These people were bred and raised that way, its been imprinted into their DNA. Some things you just can't change, they literally can't see. Its like a medical condition.
Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.
The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.
Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.
