Forum Post: 4 Simple and [probably] most necessary demands

-End the electoral college and return to a popular vote. -End tax cuts and loop holes for the super wealthy. -Seriously limit and regulate lobbying so that corporations can no longer buy our government. -End the ways corporations launder money using shell companies (C4's)to donate to supposedly transparent "legal" PACs. Those specific actions along with the formation of a political party representing the 99% and the interests of the American People should be the priorities of the Occupy Movement.

if you drop the electoral college we will be fully socialist in less than a generation

The problem with this game is that it was designed by the 1%, the rules written & enforced by the 1%. Slightly tampering with the rules wont make much difference - they would only allow change that would make no difference in the long run. A different game is needed - where everyone has a say in the design & play. Heres a few and/or ideas: abolish money ban inheritance of any significant amount (no child should start life with an economic advantage) dissolve national boundaries (they are mostly artificial & bloodsoaked) build democracy from the grass roots up. stand & vote everywhere at every opportunity for those who want to move towards this kind of world (- or abuse your ballot form if you dont get that choice)!. But voting is only one method, possibly a minor one, in the full political struggle. OWS needs massive numbers, it maybe needs to move in to occupy when there are factory closures or service cuts. It needs to work with communities to resist/prevent repossessions & organise practical support. this can give communities some hope & move OWS towards a mass movement.

Sprecht hier bitte auch in deutsch und anderen Sprachen. Europa hört euch auch zu! Die Solidarität würde weltweit schneller gelingen! :-)

  1. Hand them a gun and a whip.

  2. Ask them to rule over you with it.

  3. Ask them to be gentle.

  4. Hope they are gentle.

  5. Rejoice in the fact that you pulled one over without having to do the mental work of discovering why the electoral college was put in place and ignoring what popular election of Senators has done to your own fucking financial future.

  6. Reflect on the value of a government-run education, that taught you that the answer to every problem is more guns, more taxes, more rules, more bosses, more oppression. Be thankful you never had to learn why smaller units of government are more responsive to people, and the only scale democracy can work on. Rejoice that you got good grades in envy, advocacy of theft, denial of free speech, and mob rule without protection for minorities (individuals with inalienable rights need not apply).

Sheesh.

Great Ideas! Now we need a way into the walls of Troy to make these things happen...

Why not end tax cuts and loop holes for EVERYONE?

[-] 1 points by DrJayCadbury (4) 12 years ago

I don't see anything in here about cutting spending. Corporations should be allowed to donate anonymously, just like unions do for the democrat party. You are not very smart.
