The problem with universities is that they're too expensive in the first place - because bureaucrats treat them like some kind of a Christmas tree that needs to be decorated with red tape. I mean, anti-bullying programs, crime statistic reporting, fire alarms in dorms wired directly to the fire department, HVAC-industry written regulations for how many cubic feet of air must pass through the lecture hall even at night in the dead of winter ... there must be a thousand and one such regulations and the costs keep adding up. Education should be a First Amendment protected activity which is altogether free of regulation.

Why the cushion for higher ed? All it will do is encourage college corporations to raise their prices further... because the money is there for them. Folks need to remember that colleges are businesses! A lot of folks who would have been better off going into a trade got "sold" useless college degrees by salesmen known as "guidance counselors". They even helped their unwitting marks get loans that would be a serious burden down the road.

I'm all for #2, #4, #6, 7, #8, and #9. Possibly #1 depending on the circumstances.

E-verify? Does that mean what I think it means? Algae? What's up with that?
