Here's a very simple solution to making a serious impact on Wall St and the Media industry. If we can get millions of OWS supporters to cancel their Cable TV, Direct TV on Telco pay TV subscriptions it will have a devastating effect on Wall St and media like News Corp, CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, ESPN, Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, etc...., which are all publicly traded companies that spit out garbage through their TV channels. All Cable channels rely on the money from the Cable fees, which comes from cable companies (Carriage Fees), which ultimately comes from us, the stupid people who continue to keep them in business by paying to watch TV every month, while they treat us like garbage.

I cancelled my cable 9 months ago and happy that I know they are not surviving off of my dime. If YOU are not willing to cancel your cable TV subscription then you are a part of the crime that's being commmitted on the 99 percent of the people.

Can we get 1 million people to cancel their Cable TV / Pay TV subscriptions each month? If we can do that then Wall St will take notice, media will take notice and change can and will happen.

It's that simple...cancel your Pay TV subscriptions TODAY and pass the word on. Let's stop being stupid. TV is still FREE!!!

What I said was "albeit a large few." From the 2010 US Census, the population of the US is: 308.7M. The number of cable subscribers in the US is: 59.8M http://www.ncta.com/Stats/BasicCableSubscribers.aspx

That is about 1/5 the population that subscribes. The graph is interesting, as it shows a steady decline in subscribers since 2001.

Great suggestion! I am old enough to remember when cable TV started in NYC. It was advertised as "commercial-free" TV, and what you paid for was for the privilege of not being bombarded with advertising. Well, how asleep were we back then, eh? We thought subscription fees would be enough, but there is never enough money that can be garnered by a sleeping population. Even Public TV and radio have been pushing the commercial line. And what our government has done to Public Broadcasting in the last few years! We can get more now via the Internet...but again BEWARE... they are tampering with this medium as well. In peace and solidarity!

I would cancel mine, except I don't have one and probably am never going to get one.

Yes, that'll work too. It's all about stopping the flow of money http://occupywallst.org/forum/make-them-lose-money-and-they-will-listen/

I like your idea. I don't think its as simple for everyone but it is certainly viable and will leave a lasting effect.

So now if I watch cable I'm a criminal. You people are really out there.

If you enjoy paying your cable bill, please continue to enjoy it. It is not criminal to use or watch cable TV, but it is a privilege that only a few, albeit a large few, can afford.

Actually most of our "poor people" enjoy cable tv,air conditioning, free cell phones, good food. We have the fattest poor people in the world. According to the OP I'm a criminal for paying for cable tv.
