Get a closer look at localized resistance based around ethnic studies, badass kids, border deaths, racist laws & the Derechos Humanos coalition.
The Radical Resistance Tour is an autonomous project by a group of Occupy Wall Street organizers. We're touring the United States and interviewing activists, people participating in direct actions, and people working to create a dual power model. We want to show people who aren't on the ground how people are being directly affected by decisions being made by corporations and governments that put profits over people and the environment. We want to inspire more people to fight back by featuring people who are already fighting back, and hopefully gain some shared wisdom by listening to how others are resisting.
Job security was once a common thread for most workers until the deliberate program of making jobs more precarious come into being bit by bit. Fear is a tool used to destroy the working class.
Now a new class is emerging called the PRECARIAT. Most people you know will be a part of it.
It is a deliberate creation almost world wide or where ever the US has influence or their bankers hold office.
The rot starts here.
Trade agreements are a prime tool for taking away workers conditions as is the WTO, and a host of other institutions.
Well past wake up time.
The Precariat has been slowly growing for years but not noticed. We all know of how our working rights have been eroded and protections stripped away but now the loss of conditions is growing fast.
A basic right of a wage for all is not a new idea and we should fight for it.

YES!!!! That is what I am talking about. I can't believe that they got rid of the MAS program. I can't believe the list of banned books. I'm glad it's coming back, but the fact that it hit that it was removed at all is just insane. It was two steps forward and three steps back.
"They" didn't get rid of it, the Republicans did.

He has been hell-bent on squashing the program ever since learning several years ago that Hispanic civil rights activist Dolores Huerta told Tucson High School students that "Republicans hate Latinos," the Associated Press reports."

If you bite the devil the devil will bite you back. There is an evil afoot in this country, not the normal "everybody likes money" evil but an evil of historic proportions (1939?) and if good people don't act soon, soon it won't matter.

I see it more as a party problem than a single person even though people did it, maybe in NYC people can say life ain't perfect and the Ds run it all therefore......but down here in AZ we don't have so many Ds so we think more highly of them.

Despite an exhausting 2-year-long witch hunt (dating back to 2006, in truth) against the acclaimed Mexican American Studies program by the Tea Party-led state legislature, tonight's school board meeting in Tucson was possibly one of the most bizarre and confusing in an already demoralized school district. Yet, not a single person, among scores of tireless speakers, spoke against the program. Nor did a single school board member opt to respond to any questions--including a local academic's query on why his own writing was banned from the District's classes, as part of the canceling of Mexican American Studies curriculum.
Then, as the chants erupted of "No justice, no peace, no racist TUSD," and students and community members cuffed themselves with hard plastic handcuffs, board president Mark Stegemen, who had deemed the Mexican American Studies a " cult" and served as one of the state's leading witnesses in a state administrative hearing last year, called for a recess. Within ten minutes, Stegemen and his board members re-emerged and managed to ram through an awkward vote over the chamber's mass confusion, with a rambling 25-year-old school board member Miguel Cuevas casting the deciding vote to deal the final blow to the nation's only high school Mexican American Studies program.

It is not one person, it is a group of people and in Pima County, you do what you can to remember who they are because the odds are they will try to run for something else.
If you have trouble remembering their names, you should remember they were Republican.
Get involved in the Democratic primary get the best person you can, then beat the Republican, it really is that simple.
Remember trust no one, but defeat a Republican.

What I find fascinating is that 54% of people coming out of the polls in VA in 2012 thought that wealth inequality is a major problem in America and OWS has done nothing with that.
Really? and you know that how? but if you are saying that MAS was not and is not the core of OWS you are correct there, if you think that OWS has lost focus and energy as it has diffused it's strength, you are correct there, so I would say on balance, insightful, if abrasive.

This is as simple to me as advanced mathematics, however I realize that not everyone sees advance math to be as simple as I do, I came to realize that over time, so I don't really know how hard it is to see that the GOP are the source of 99% of our problems, I know that not seeing that has allowed them to flourish and cause great harm.
Over my life there were times when I was called brilliant and they heaped reward and responsibility on me, other times they call me crazy, I never really know which it will be at any given time.

What kind of job can one get with a degree in ethnic studies? Manufacturing? Accounting? IT? Engineering? Medical? Anything of substance? I think not.
If you want to take ethnic studies, pay for it yourselves. Don't ask the taxpayer to foot the bill for recreational degrees.
Grow up. Starting in the 1960s there were movements in many parts of the country that had tried to incorporate different aspects of the students cultures into the curriculum because it was known that they stayed in school, received higher marks and participated far more. Knowing this information--it still took 30 years to get a program in place.
This is why we have to backtrack. You aren't bright enough to say hey we have a high drop out rate let's take what we know and turn this around. Instead we have to be subjected to your willful ignorance.
Ignorance as in lack of knowledge and willful because you refuse to to acknowledge that there is a body of research that supports this.
