OWS Post-Raid Actions Today. Livestreams. General Assembly 7PM tonight at Liberty Square.
Posted 12 years ago on Nov. 15, 2011, 1:27 p.m. EST by OccupyWallSt
Liberty Square (Zuccotti Park), home of Occupy Wall Street for the past two months and birthplace of the 99% movement that has spread across the country and around the world, was evicted by a large police force in full riot gear. NOW is the time to help. If you feel as deeply about the Occupy movement as we do, show your support by taking real steps today! We are counting on people all over the country to come out and support us to keep this movement going!
Come to GENERAL ASSEMBLY tonight at 7pm in Liberty Square (Zuccotti Park):
They can kick us out, but they can’t stop us from reassembling. Let’s show them that truth by showing up at Liberty Square with the biggest General Assembly yet! Come to GA tonight at 7pm!
Help the Occupiers Get their stuff back:
Supposedly, all the stuff that was taken by the police from the square will be available for people to pick up at noon EST today. WE NEED PEOPLE TO GO TO MIDTOWN MANHATTAN AND HELP THE OCCUPIERS GET THEIR STUFF BACK TODAY! If you can help gather the stuff, especially if you have a van or can rent a U-Haul for the effort, please call or text 617-406-8299
Support the Occupiers by giving them a place to stay:
Live in New York City? Want to support the Liberty Square arrestees? We are looking for safe spaces where folk who have been arrested can go after they are released to rest, tend their wounds, take a shower, have a meal, etc. If you can offer your house, call Hannah at 802.359.3628. Tell us how many people you can have over, for how long, where you live, and a return number. Thanks!
Medical Needs Supplies:
The medics lost all of their supplies last night along with everyone else. We urgently need all basic medical supplies. Things such as gauze, bandages, bandaids, vitamin C, heat packs, cold packs, gloves, asprin, AND ANY OTHER THINGS THAT YOU CAN THINK MAY BE NECESSARY FOR MEDICAL NEEDS!
Medics ALSO need new tent, headlamps, cots, battery-powered lanterns
Please bring supplies to S.I.S (OWS Shipping and Storage) at 52 Broadway, NYC. Mailing Address will be posted soon for overnight shipping.
Call assistant Attorney General with the Civil Rights Division:
http://interoccupy.org/CivilRightscomplaint.pdf is a complaint submitted on behalf of the Occupy Movement to the Department of Justice in response to the increasing antagonism of police against peaceful protesters. It was formally submitted to the Department of Justice on 11/10/2011. It is addressed to a Mister Thomas Perez, the assistant Attorney General with the Civil Rights Division. Mr. Perez’s office number is (202) 514-4609. Let us call, tie up his lines, and demand that every citizen has a right to peaceably assemble without the threat of police violence.
Keep up the non-violent action! Remember that the corporate power structure has a weak foundation and it's about to fall....
Excerpt from my article ”The Transition Phase: The Road To Freedom” :
"We should also bare in mind that in any stage of this struggle for a free democratic society we have to expect lots of opposition from the elites and their supporters and servants. Not only do we have to expect and prepare ourselves for media-propaganda, we also have to expect more police brutality. Its a natural reaction of the finacial elite who will become more and more scared of the movement(s) as they grow. The state and government are often very servile to the wealthy finacial elite, especially in the US where the wealthy more or less control policies. The police is a tool of the business-run, or business-influenced state to try to crush the ones who want to take back from the wealthy what has been stolen thru bailouts, exploitation and speculation at the stock exchange. The elites are starting to feel threatened, they want to keep all that they have stolen, so naturally they want to stop The Occupy Movement and anyone else involved in the struggle with police force. These tendencies are however an indcation that we´re on the right track: The elites are getting scared, and react by increasing their effort in trying to crush movements. The finacial elite will however fail. Police brutality is counter-productive, it just leads to more support and sympathy for people engaged in the struggle among the general population."
Fight back non-violently. Keep on fighting, keep on growing REoccupy!

"What you should do is exactly the kinds of things that are going to lead to hysteria among privileged and powerful people" - Noam Chomsky
Why don't we follow the Egyptians and the Libyans? Carry the Flag when they attack. We have as much right to use it as they do.
Carry it upside down if you want to, and chant "We are Americans," to paraphrase Sharmar Thomas' "These are US citizens."
If you don't want to carry the American, carry the Egyptian or Libyan flag. Or Carry large copies of the 1st Amendment guarantee to free assembly.
The police will not sense the wrong or shame they are doing unless we make it clearer for them. Make it clear to them that they are attacking their own country when they attack us. That will also resonate with the rest of the country.
Psychopaths are incapable of empathy and shame. Yelling shame at them is useless.
Here here! We have only just begun to fight. We've awakened and we won't go back to sleep.
http://soundcloud.com/kraig-tyler/wont-go-back-to-sleep-1
Fight the power!!! Public enemy number 1!!! 1 !!! 1!!! Flavor Flav !!!!! what time is it.... Boyyyyyy!
We can play lazy, cheap, and non-violent to the money making corporations.
Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake. They own violence, and therefore any violence used against them adds value to their investment -- they'll lend it to us for a short while and charge interest.
Is it really? I see their foundation as far from weak and actually being strengthened by your movement
No Roger... No Rerun... No Rent!!!!!!!
Fail.
Keep up the fight! Never Stop! We shall win!
They don't understand that this is just going to make the movement even bigger than before, and is also perfect "fodder" for the N17 event! Solidarity from Michigan!
it has nothing to do with winning --it has to do with sensitizing others as to what is happening--and in a way the american people know something is not right--we are planting seeds
Keep letting everyone know what's exactly going on in the financial system and how we've had enough of it. You speak for many of us, the voiceless, the disaffected, the disenfranchised, the bystanders, and the human spirit to call for what is right and what is just--beyond ideology, beliefs, and other psychological projections.
What needs to be realized is that this is a cry from the collective human spirit, that the way we run our "financial system" does not work for a good amount of us and that if we continue business as usual, it will result in dire consequences for many of us.
It is a travesty that with the amount of resources and technology that we currently have, that we cannot even sustain an earth that is capable of taking care of its inhabitants.
Here today, gone tomorrow. The urgency of now requires us to awaken to the truths and realities that if we move on as we always have, it will simply be unsustainable.
Solidarity from Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, MA until Friday. Then I'm back on the front lines.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they FIGHT YOU
Then you win.
Desiree Roxie Frias
actually, no. you don't win. they build monuments to you. will you all go home if we make a monument?
We will tell you after you build it!
Add this to the backup plan. http://occupywallst.org/forum/flash-protesting-an-idea-to-consider/ After they clear the normal protesters out the regular crowds will be filled with plaincloths protesters that will prostest inside the crowds or to replace that missing area.
With you all! -Orange County, CA

For César Abraham Vallejo Mendoza
The trained stars are neighing down through cones. There, the glistening teeth-mark on bubblegums they spit. At night the sky is quietly elastic, and why screams travel slowly, yet farther. Unadded, unsubtracted,
this world always contains or. In the meantime the police drags a nurse out of Zuccotti Park, breaks the make-shift libraries. This is non-violent, nothing happens when you slay books, the media feels.
Lost in the outrage of winter the city memorizes trees in terms of their corners. And depending on context cone (in a different languages) means an angle, a corner, or who.
99 percent of times things are absurdly simple to comprehend. Empire invents countless hands who shelve increasingly larger and smaller containers, night and day. Mouthwash quantities of milk,
truck-size bullets, wallets made from human hair, glassy squares encasing the entire universe.
And the police take sleeping bags, photos, pressure cookers.Police wants to siphon out the warmth from each shoulder.
That was Arab Spring & this is American Winter.
I can almost feel a policeman fire a tazer in the air, out of non-violent mirth. Through an uncanny amount of minerals the night exhales a loose mechanized coma. What are we to say?
Take away words, & note, almost nothing remains. Worlds will crumble from a simple touch. When the moon will sail in fifth gear, Emperor, please believe us, you can't repress this, this time.
Remember, Nomina De Huesos.
Emperor, here are several ways of saying that age old triplet Death, Love, Living: Long Peculiar Swords, Broken Plucked Flesh, Salted Blue Water, Armed Watergun Men.
As suggested, I called the number provided to sincerely express support and concern as a citizen. I wanted to express that common citizens everywhere are concerned. That whether we agree or not, the right to assemble and speech is critical. It has brought attention to critical problems, and assembling and speaking is the only way we can work through it and correct it, as a people! When I called several times, I got some "rolling eyes", sighs, but one gentleman was very professional and helpful. I simply want to express it's NOT JUST a group of whoever at this park, it is a RIGHT FOR ALL FREE PEOPLE. Have not had chance to be heard. Was told by one person answering that Angela Parks would be a person to contact. Line was disconnected. Please join me in trying. They must know we citizens care about and demand our freedom!
Mayor Bloomberg is so full of it . He does not care about the people ( 99%) , he only cares about his people ( 1%) . All he did today on his press conference was spread lies .
This movement is about the arbitrary use of classism, which is inextricably linked the hierarchical society in which we live; it is based on sexism, ageism, racism, and last bit surely not least, classism. There is no reward for hard work and perseverance, education, for skills or for real work. We are victims and slaves of the papered aristocracy, an element that has long time been reviled by Americans...BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DO NOTHING FOR US!
Profit from our labor and call us parasites in bust cycles.
What this all boils down to is that the politicians in office do not represent the 99%. They had to sell their soul to big business just to raise enough money to be considered a legitimate candidate. If we enforced more stringent campaign finance reform laws, this would help eliminate the need to "give-in" to big business, and allow politicians who truly value and represent the 99% to be elected.
Here is a thought: take the money that is donated, go to Braddock P.A. buy a couple of houses (cause they are so cheap due to the dead economy) and work on the demonstration from there.
I also want to throw in, that the love for everyone of you grows. In my heart you are heroes and should all be proud of yourselves.
"You have enemies? Good, that means you stood up for something sometime in your life." -Winston Churchill
We must keep up the pressure on Wall Street. They are all connected through Goldman-Sachs and various other government entities such as the Federal Reserve, the Securities and exchange commission, the World Trade Organization, the list is very long. All of the big players are tied to secret societies and they have tenticles through-out the world agencies, such as the World Monitary Fund, The United Nations, Standards and Poors, Moodey's. The current state of affairs and the unwillingness of big business, banking, and our government to do what is right for our nation. We must stand strong and FIGHT FOR REAL CHANGE NOW!!!!!!
This may be in the wrong section, but I have a question. Forgive if this is repeated as I didn't check. There is a court order to allow the occupation to continue, the property owners did not comply and the NYPD are not complying. It is publicly known that a court order was issued. Who enforces that order? The Police is supposed to uphold the law, and the law was laid down for 1st amendment rights. Who is to enforce the law against the people who enforce the law? How do we get them involved? Will they get involved? What more can be done to make these very unprofessional people to back off on something that is an unalienable right? I always wanted to be a Police officer, I wanted to fight against the people who ruin our society. It turns out they contribute in my eyes. I can say that the police are very lucky that we are bigger people and this is non-violent. (sorry for going off topic) GOD I want my country back!
According to yesterdays USA Today the police have been bought off too by Corp. Amer.. Namely Dupont, Motorola, Targert Verizon, Advanced Interactive Systems, Calif. Correctional Peace Officers Ass, Maglite, Panasonic, Glock to name a few. They all contributed hugely toward a Law Enforcement Museum in DC. Don't forget Corp. Amer. does everything behind the scenes, subtly so that we won't know or notice.
This is not only have happened because of the planned N17 action. Since it is seemingly coordinated across the country at many of the larger occupations, my guess is that the Occupy message stream needs to be shut down before they start the SuperCommittee circus. They can't get a clean meme out there about how Social Security and Medicare/caid need to be cut while the nation can so easily hear how much crap that is. They are trying to clean the airwaves in time for the Bulls@@t fest.
Birth is a physical violent moment and this is our birth moment. The establishment through their puppet media establishment and their puppet police force will try and beat the life from you but remember he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.

Ring worm outbreak at occupy in California- that is some nasty stuff! http://www.graphicshunt.com/health/images/ring_worm-2401.htm
We need a better strategy and plan of attack Wall Street is not the cause, it is a SYMPTOM!
JOIN THE REVOLUTION Read “Common Sense 3.1” at ( www.revolution2.osixs.org ) FIGHT THE CAUSE - NOT THE SYMPTOM We don’t have to live like this. "Spread the News"
continue no leader is good-if someone became a leader they would kill her and then the psyche of the people following. *FOOD- keep strong: fish oil 1000mg/day; apples heal small intestine for healthy digestion; stay clear of toxins to keep mind and body strong. 90%vegies palm of hand protein
No Zuccotti Park to camp out in tonight? Bloomberg made the decision without going into the park to see how clean it was. Where is Bloomberg dining out tonight maybe the Palm restaurant? Maybe he is going out somewhere else? Perhaps that quiet evening he plans tonight should not be so quiet with thousands of people outside of wherever he is making some noise?
that is a very non violent thing to do, he could be out to dinner with his family he does happen to be a father as well as the mayor of nyc
OWS should have acted before there was a raid. Next stop on the road to freedom? Philadelphia. https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/
Now
Liberty Square actually lives in peoples' hearts
It is a place bounded neither by ground nor sky nor skyscrapers
It is a place we will return to over and over
It is a place not accessible to armed police, mayors, nor appropriators
It is, in fact, impossible to roust those who are actually there
Mic Check! Mic Check; HaHa, HaHa; HaHaHa, HaHaHa
I have respect for the Occupy protesters, but some of the things they are protesting should be reconsider, for example "I will never own a home in my life" or "I will never get a job in this economy." Occupy is more than that, it is about giving the government back to the people and taking it away from the corporations. Regardless keep fighting.

During a crash of an international airplane a number of years ago thousands of Canadians were willng and opened their homes to survivors. With the use of Craigslist, maybe residents willing to allow OWSers to stay for the night can offer up space, heck, even garage or cellar space would be welcome to any equipped with camping gear who have been staying in Zucotti park!
So glad this "V for Vacuousness" fest (a.k.a. OWS) of under-consumed pseudo-liberals got some problems.
I seems that the suicidal tendencies of the American educated elites, who are eager to destroy their country, were somewhat slowed down by powers that be--which had to use power a while ago..
You people are waiting for a decision from one man? From a judge who is the result of a system you are fighting against. How is this a democracy when one man will decide on your right to have tents or sleeping bags or to protest? The irony of it all and the fact that you are waiting on one man for his 'decision' depresses me. If you are serious, gather the numbers and take the park by force. What are you 'fighting' for?
Don't believe in Hope!!! A four letter word that makes you live in a fantasy. even if you have a good paying job it will be the same enslavement
stay hopeless and real- stay hungry and smart-
It's been almost two months, and there has really been no change. The people who support OWS won't be able to do so forever. I donated a little bit at the beginning, and now over facebook, twitter and e-mail they beg and plead for more. Paying New York City rent for thousands of people for months on end is pricey.
So far this whole protest has been a let down. We're so busy trying to be non-violent, the better man, and hoping our presence alone will create change, and it hasn't.
Free Willy !
who is everyone against now? it seems like your focus is drifting from your roots... The police are just doing their jobs they are the 99% also, they just happen to be employed and collect a salary and have the opportunity to work their way up the ranks to become more successful.
Here is the problem with the whole '99%' idea. It is the idea that anyone who makes less than a million dollars a year (or billion, or whatever the economic criteria for distinction is) is a good person who is trying to make an honest living who is being stomped on by the 'elite' 1%.
The police are tasked with protecting our rights. We fund their department so that they will do this. When they act in a way that is not in keeping with that purpose they are, in principle, no different than common thugs. A moral officer would resign before carrying out an order to violate people's rights.
This is only because you only see your cause and not the others that live in nyc, not everyone seen the park as clean and sanitary... you can protest all you want but a park is not made for living and private business restrooms should not have been turned into public sanitary stations as stated they were in many news papers
I did not state an opinion on the cleanliness of the park nor did I voice an opinion as to the use of the restrooms of private businesses. My comment was only intended to illuminate the necessary considerations when deciding whether one is 'for' or 'against' the actions of a given group, in this case: the police.
they are neither for or against they are just following their orders so that they will have a job in the future
No Roger... No Rerun... No Rent!!!!!!!

You actually represent the .(point)99%. You are all so far removed from reality it is embarrassing. There are no more than a few hundred of you at any one event and America, in general, is so much smarter than you are it's beginning to make you all look like 3-year-olds. Here is what you're missing; Barack O'blahblah, a classical loser himself with no practical work experience in his entire life, thinks you guys are great! Think about that. A loser thinks you're the expression of America's "great frustration". Those of us who have worked hard all our lives, who are not wealthy but who have created jobs and helped many, find your 'groupie-ism' ridiculous and demeaning. You don't belong in parks, you belong in a job. You have no one to blame but yourself for your lot in life. If you don't like it, change it. If you think taking 'it' from someone else is going to fly, I suggest you get your funeral arrangements in order because the majority out here won't put up with your bullshit.
You had a moment where you had everyone's attention. Then you blew it on a monumental scale. You pulled in unions, anarchists, socialists, "libertarian socialists" (sure), haters, stoners . . . What a debacle.
Nice name, ironic considering we hardly have a real "Free Market" any more with the rule bending and outright cheating going on in Wall Street.
We are what we have accused so many of in the past, a Crony Capitalist System controlled by a Corporate Neo-Feudalist State out of Wall Street.
I will never, I will never, I will never... and it is all your fault. waaaaaa!
for goodness sake. how pathetic. who controls the message these guys put out. I assume there was some coordination. they are all identical signs. doesn't the fact the millions do get jobs, do own a home, and continue to pay off the student loans only further invalidate the claims of the protesters?
I think OWS should stick to trying to eliminate the influence of money in politics. that is an achievable goal that will help this country. It will NOT however get people a job or a house or remove their debt. eventually people will have to do those things for themselves.
Ten signs. So... Ten People. Oh and a Banner... so... Twelve People.
Removing money from politics is the only way to get people a job, house and remove their debt.
right, but what I am saying is that these signs sound like total whining. so when average people see this, I do not think they see, "One Person, One Dollar, One Vote" (which i really believe in) i think they see a bunch of young people who, upon arriving in the real world, realized it sucked, so they camp out in NYC.
doesn't read whiny to me.
Why not say "when I see this" rather than the "average person"
sematics? you are arguing semantics?
if you rearrange my pronouns it could read "I do not think average people see" WTF does it matter. I think they are whining. many others probably think they are whining also. they could have made better signs. That is all I am saying. the message of Big Corporations corrupting Big Government is so resonant. by using "I will never" it sounds like whining. as if they want pity more than substantive change
I disagree, the fact that the signs are addressing how the corruption effects personal lives brings the human element up for me. "corruption" "government" "big corporations" these are abstract ideas that are hard for me to fully imagine the functioning of, despite years of study. It isn't that I can't do it, but it is difficult.
Put it this way, lets say you walk into a building and the environmental controls are are messed up. You don't simply come in and say "hey this is messed up" you first say 'i am to cold' 'i am to hot' 'why are the vents so loud', that is the indicator that the system is messed up and how. It isn't that we shouldn't also be saying that there is something wrong with the system, but we should also address the personal affect of the system. At least in my mind.
We probably have to agree to disagree.
... because they know it could be so much better.
It is the Investment Bankers' fault and they got off scott free: http://wpsocialreader.washingtonpost.com/fbwapolabs/me/redirect/www.washingtonpost.com/business/what-caused-the-financial-crisis-the-big-lie-goes-viral/2011/10/31/gIQAXlSOqM_story.html?tid=sm_btn_twitter&socialreader_check=0&denied=1
if you want bankers to go to jail, first you have to make what they did illegal. of course you can't retroactively jail them, but you can (re)regulate the activities which caused the collapse, preventing it in the future.
Those people holding all those manufactured whiner signs are just sad.
I will never this? I will never that? Who thinks like this and succeeds at anything?
GO Home , GET A JOB , Stop Blaming the hard working Americans for your supposed " plight" you do not represent anything other than 99% of the problem with this country, spoiled, lazy, bunch of over-privileged , entitled idiots. Try to occupy a JOB !
Oh yes. They are so entitled. They spent their whole lives being told "You don't want to flip burgers your entire life! Go to college!" so they went to college. They graduated and now they can't find a job or afford to flip burgers because it won't pay for their 1000 dollar a month student loan payments.
Speaking from someone who has a job, there are incredibly limited amounts of jobs out there right now. You can't get a loan, you're money isn't worth much any more, our government is corrupt, and the rich own and control everything. You tell them to get a job? Get a brain moron, when there's a limited amount of jobs due to corporations using offshore labour and putting jobs in other countries, there are bound to be jobless people, no matter how hard everyone tries. Don't go run your uneducated arrogant mouth thinking you're a shining star. You're just another brainwashed American lead to believe everything is A-OKAY. Dumbass.
Jobs are only limited for those that want handouts or easy money , for those of us that want to work hard there is always work, call me all the names you want , your frustrations are apparent, and who could blame you, i work in International trade, don't try to postulate like you know something, i travel to 36 different countries/ cities every year around the globe, first hand experience tell me that USA is in trouble and its the 99% of you that are causing us all to lag behind, good luck with your Job, and your shitty credit, and you "worthless" currency ...just think maybe you should quit your job because inevitably some rich person / government agency owns your ass too ! LMAO !!!
Good point, it has absolutely nothing to do with American corporations outsourcing work to incredibly low paid employees in countries that have a wildly different cost of living an economic place.
If only we where willing to gut all the economic power of the u.s. so that a meager couple $ wage could pay for enough rice to feed us for a week. That would save the economy.
I do believe that MADEINAMERICA is putting it's logic before it's grammer. My bet is he/she is either one of 3 things: 1)an idiot 2)a paid shill 3)brainwashed
Folks, don't give too much energy towards this sort of poster, they are either employed to troll, or mentally disabled.
I don't know I think I have had pretty good interaction with Made In America, he/she seems to listen to some extent which is more than I can say for most trolls.
Also I don't think its cool to put down people we disagree with.
There aren't jobs, that is part of the problem.
No one is blaming hard working Americans.
Try actually listening first, and then coming to a conclusion.
There are 4 un-employed for every job opening out there - so why don't you get a life loser!!!
It is the hardworking Americans out there that followed the rules and got screwed by the cheating Investment Bankers that are bent on Destroying the American Middle Class.
So why don't you go get a life loser! Keep drinking the koolaid!!!
So let us all understand you are blaming Investment Bankers for getting laid off...hmm, exactly what i have been saying all along, STOP BLAMING OTHERS and take charge for your own self....another 99% idealist
Douchebag Troll - not even close!!! lol...
sticks and stones :)
"I will never own a home."
"I will never pay off my student loans."
"I will never pay off my debt."
... all true. As long as you're standing with these losers. Take responsibility and do something for yourself. If you wait for it to come to you, these signs are all so true.
I can't be there because I am working to pay off my student loans. I work hard at a job that underemploys me to pay more than my minimum balance, as a result I have nothing. It will take me a very long time to pay off my loans at this rate. I have come to terms that I won't have a home of my own, I won't be able to afford children, and I won't be able to have the life I wanted to have. I didn't want to be rich. I just wanted to be able to have the things that my parents had, a family, a home, and a job that paid enough for me to have those things.
These people are brave enough to face harsh weather, they have probably lost their jobs from being out there so long, many are far away from their families, they face arrests and violence to do this for me and I respect them.
These people are trying to do something for themselves. So they're a little unconventional. Each time a new revolution happens it happens differently.
The only thing they are doing for themselves is indulging their useless narcissism.
Hmm interesting, well in that case, maybe the Capitalists and the OWSers aren't that different after all.
Here's a very funny article on Iran's so called "nukes". A must read:

“Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders…and millions have been killed because of this obedience…Our problem is that people are obedient allover the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves… (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.” ― Howard Zinn
