NEW YORK (April 30, 2012) – Today, Occupy-affiliated demonstrators who were illegally held for two hours against their will on November 30, 2011 inside a pen built of interlocking metal barricades filed a civil rights action in federal court. The group is represented by the law firms of Rankin & Taylor and Beldock Levine & Hoffman. In addition to damages, the group seeks an injunction on behalf of all demonstrators in New York City that would prohibit similar Police tactics.
Keep em coming!!!
Occupy them in the streets!
Occupy them in the courts!
Council Member Latetia James who also co-signed this lawsuit is a GIGANTIC HYPOCRITE and people need to know that and not fall for this cynical political ploy for politicians to glom onto something to SEEM like they have a critical posture against out of control policing but in reality are agents of brutal police tactics in their own neighborhoods. Latetia James was instrumental, along with Crow Hill Community Assoc, in setting up and maintaining the NYPD "IMPACT ZONE" on Franklin Ave. An impact zone basically means a police occupation of a neighborhood and all that brings with it: Stop-and-frisk, harrasment, increase arrest rates, more incarceration, etc. This is a greed tactic that helps them grab more money and power at the expense of the community in Crown Heights/Prospect Heights. http://brooklynian.com/forum/crown-heights-and-prospect-lefferts-gardens/save-the-impact-zone-on-franklin-avenue

Right On. Got to be plenty of documented material by now. Awesome.

This is great news, people. Class actions are currently in action in Australia to rake back the billions of dollars banksters have illegally charged us all in "late fees".
Keep the solidarity, and support your fellow occupier.

Great...potential lawsuits only affect the 99% since it's us whose taxes pay for the NYPD. Many members of the NYPD do not even live in NYC, so how does it affect them. Way to go OWS...blocking bridges and streets so the 99% can't get to work, and now you want our tax dollars to fund your lawsuits!
Yeah, jackasses... way to stand up to tyranny at the cost of pennies on the dollar that could be used to fund illegal foreign wars. What assholes. You can stand up for your rights when it's quick and free. Til then, why don't you just pipe down and fall back in line with the rest of us.
(Pardon the paraphrasing, of course)
