powshawnI am an employed, middle class, college-educated mother of two who joins you in solidarity against the special interest groups who have railroaded our republic and the public corporations who have lost sight of their moral obligations to the society in which they exist in order to increase profits to their shareholders and maintain the status quo of their executives at the expense of their employees, the environment and the economic realities of the general public. It is a sad time in America when the notion of the "common good" and what's in the best interest of "all" is being ignored by those in power in our government and corporate boardrooms. While I wish I could take to the streets in protest, I am a slave to my subsistence and responsibilities to my children. However, I am with you 100% in spirit and will continue to express my outrage and disappointment to our elected representatives, working to run them all out of office. We need courageous teachers, doctors, engineers, scientists, businessmen and woman, mothers, fathers, factory workers, service workers etc. to join together to build "citizen" legislatures and reform the rules of this republic, instituting healthy ideas like term limits, campaign finance reform, corporate accountability, etc. in order to get our government out of the hands of those who have lost sight of the "public good". There is a moral imperative for middle class of America, like no other time in our history, to step up, say "hell no" and take our government back. We must make the world a better place for our children and the least among us, because that truly is the measure of a great society...how it builds for the future and how it treats the least among us.
