I work as a classified employee for the local school district...one of the higher paid positions that requires a four-year degree to hold. My husband is a service technician for a utility company. I have a second home business, and my husband is a handyman on the side. Together, we work a demanding minimum 10-hour-a-day jobs for less than $50,000 a year. We have two children still at home...one cannot find a job, the other is in community college. We cannot make it to the end of the month. We have no savings. We cannot take a vacation or go visit our grandchildren, and God forbid something happen to our vehicle or home that would require a large outgo of money, because we just don't have it. I can't figure out why two people who have decent jobs...who don't use alcohol or drugs or gamble...who don't go out to dinner every night, or buy expensive jewelry and have less than a $600 per month mortgage can't make ends meet! What is wrong with this picture!!
