We are the 99 percent

I’m an Artist and a humanist with a deep sympathy for the movement and a hope that enough voices will speak up that they will eventually be heard. The protest isn’t about people wanting a “free ride” – it’s about people wanting a fair deal. There has been an expanding moral circle, and with that expanding moral circle the list of rights and responsibilities to each member of the global community is growing.

We have a situation right now where you have an entity that is claiming the rights of a person (corporations) but have none of the responsibilities. Not only that, but by their very nature they must act only in their own interests instead of that of the community at large. What would we do if a person acted only out of pure self-interest with no regard to the health, welfare or safety of those in their community? What would we do with this person? In the case of corporations and financial institutions apparently we reward their behaviour by bailing them out while everyone else suffers.

I kept my real name as my screen name because I never hide who I am in relation to my opinions.
