There's a lot people here who think Liberty Plaza is owned by Zuccotti and we're just there because they're just super nice. It is legally PUBLIC SPACE that is privately owned. If they build a building more than a certain height, they have to create public space. So, occupy freely!
See nyc.gov's site here: http://on.nyc.gov/publicprivatenyc
You are only there because Brookfield (the owners) don't kick you out. They allow you to sleep there. Don't doubt it. You owe all to one of the biggest real estate corporations in the US. Nice, huh?
If your protesting against rich people, how many rich people are in the park to see it at night? If a tree falls in the forest can a rich person hear it?
"Liberty Plaza" will soon - I'd say in 2 or 3 years at the most - be declared a "HISTORIC SITE" by the first elected government of a country born anew.
And it well should be, as it is where it all started. People from all over the world will want to see the birthplace of the Movement that buried the American Empire and birthed a New America.
