Hello everyone, What if we all, in addition to protesting, write letters to our congressmen and women? If every one of the 10,000+ protesters went ahead and wrote to all the congressmen & women, that would be enormous! We should exercise all our rights. Freedom of speech!
Thoughts? -Gill
They listen to lobbyists representing the needs of the few.
They listen to money... lobbyists = $$$$
While I'm seeing a lot of naysaying below this, don't be discouraged. It's a completely valid outlook that corporate lobbyists pump enough money into the system that a letter from an individual citizen will more than likely be abitrarily discarded, but that's not to say in the least that if a number significant enough that it represents a constituiency writes in an elected official can do anything BUT listen if it demonstrates their job is on the line.
They are not on the side of the people.
Write a letter to Congress and you will more than likely receive a computer generated response.
Members of congress will never work to change the social paradigm. With the way things are now, they're wealthy and powerful. And if the wealthy and powerful have shown us that they can do one thing easily, it's completely ignore the suffering and cries for help of those who are less fortunate.
And don't give me any BS about philanthropic efforts made by congress-person X... these empty gestures were simply made so that they'd pay less in taxes and/or gain voters in their next election.
I don't think they will care. They only need money to be elected, along with the two-party system. They don't need popular support.
