Forum Post: Wow, you people are still here? haha

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I had a great Thanksgiving and now I'm back at work. Just thought I'd check to see if OWS still exists. For the most part, OWS is irrelevant to most of America at this point. Move on, people.

This guy probably agrees about getting $$$ outta politics, and that the central banks are out of control, but just doesnt back your tactics.

And I kind of cant blame him. This is very frustrating to be a part of.

Understandable, we need to adapt in order to advance, that is for certain.

Still, he could try not being an utter fuckwit and help us towards that end. [/emotion]

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

...and that's why your here posting.

[-] 1 points by JoeTheFarmer (2654) 13 years ago

Unfortunately he is correct.

America has a short attention span. People get bored with news stories pretty quickly. Remember the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan. No one even mentioned that radioactive xenon was detected last week. Nobody cares about new stories on old topics even if it is big news.

People get desensitized. Even the pepper spray stories get old for most people. The pepper spray lady in Walmart got more air time.

Getajoblosers, most of what goes on in this country is seemingly irrelevant to most people. I can also tell you are in no position to hire anyone. Because anyone that was in this position, would not suggest that anyone should get a job. They would know there are very few serious, well paying jobs out there. I am just trying to help you in your pursuit of attempting to stop looking foolish.

As for OWS, just hang tight, as this movement grows, and it will, we are going to become very, very important in your life.

We are going to change the world you live in.

[-] 1 points by jeramyjay (8) 13 years ago

There are plenty of good paying jobs out there, if you are willing to put in effort, but most of the ows poster kids are just that, kids looking for handouts.

Kids that just graduated college and don't think making 30k starting out is enough, well sorry that's life you have to put forth effort and prove yourself before making more.

So I totally agree with getajoblosers, and think the majority of ows are voicing the wrong ideals.

[-] 2 points by tbuontempo (194) from Jersey City, NJ 13 years ago

OK, where? I am in the NYC area. I am from Jersey City, and am not finding good paying jobs.

Are you in a position to hire? If so, and in this area, let us get together.

I have backgrounds in IT, Finance and Industrial production.

I have a private university degree(s), professional networks in all industries and have not been able to find a middle class job in three years.

I am 45, been in management and am ready, willing and able. So I am calling all you people out. If you make this statement, you had better be able to back it up with a job interview.

[-] -1 points by jeramyjay (8) 13 years ago

Here is just 1 link of it jobs in NY http://www.computerwork.com/jobs-by-location/ny That site alone is showing 193 jobs. Once again it takes effort, which may include relocating, you choose to live where you are, don't blame business for choosing not to cater to individual needs of all employees.

[-] 1 points by tbuontempo (194) from Jersey City, NJ 13 years ago

And you have a contact to this job? I asked for an interview, not a job listing.

Once again, if you cannot back up the "get a job loser" crap with a job interview, you are out of touch.

Job listings are irrelevant. Contacts are important. Networks are important.

So once again, I am asking the question, are you in a position to hire?

By the way, it is a redundant question; I know the answer, so stop wasting both our time. I have to look for work.

[-] 0 points by Kevabe (81) 13 years ago

I agree! The type of people that make up OWS are the cancer to our good nation.

[-] 1 points by jeramyjay (8) 13 years ago

Sad thing is the original reasons ows started were great, but they themselves have been corrupted and are now just a nuisance.

[-] 1 points by thrsaymaquf (15) 13 years ago

us moving on--you can count on it.

If its irrelevant, why are so many people spending so much time and effort coming here to say that? Repeat it enough times and it'll be true or something?

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

"Irrelevant to most of America"... Really. It seems to those of us that're intelligent enough to investigate varied sources that the OWS movement has changed the national conversation, it has encouraged, even spurred into action, the ongoing investigation into the fraudulent foreclosure practices that have been employed, it has brought to light much of the illegal and corrupt agendas and actions of our Governors and Mayors. Quite the contrary, the movement is very relevant to all of America. No, I'm not a dirty hippie, I'm a proud veteran of our Armed Forces, a Criminal Justice, Social Work and Psychology major at 2 colleges who can read and see. Irrelevant? Far from it. Keep it up OWS!! We salute you!! Merry Christmas!!!

[-] 0 points by brettdecker (68) 13 years ago

You forgot to admit that you're a Leftist also.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

Many of us, if not most, are neither "right' nor 'left', just pragmatic. Labels won't stick, ya' see, as OWS isn't a republican or democratic, right or left movement. It's a pragmatic movement. We're fighting for everyman, everywoman, everywhere.

[-] 0 points by brettdecker (68) 13 years ago

That was all propaganda.

OWS was conceived and executed by Radical Progressives this is a fact not opinion. Who did you vote for in 2008?

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

What are you referring to as being propoganda? My statement? Please explain. As for who conceived and executed the OWS movement, what would you rather they be labelled (called, named)? One must be a radical progressive in order to change the status quo...

Get edjamacated about the Master you serve.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

... also, aren't tree huggers and anarchists in opposition to one another? Just curious.

[-] 0 points by brettdecker (68) 13 years ago

Dunno, but you should ask the OWS people that you are supporting.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

You don't know... gotcha.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

Interesting article. We serve no master. Many of us are neither tree huggers nor anarchists. It's sad that you use such a broad brush to color your world.

[-] 0 points by brettdecker (68) 13 years ago

By supporting and even participating in OWS you are serving the agenda of Adbusters. You may live in denial,I don't care. But these are the facts. Take'em or leave'em.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

Following your logic, it's consequential that you support eliminating the first and fourteenth amendments to our Constitution. Shame on you.

[-] 0 points by brettdecker (68) 13 years ago

WTF?

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

Consequent logic, if A=A then B=B, et cetera. It was taught in high school in my day.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 13 years ago

No you claim to be which you then try to use as moral authority over all of us.Many of us agree with some of things OWS has said but resent the attitude that OWS knows what is right for all of us because you don't.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

I don't just "claim to be" pragmatic. I don't use any "moral authority", as I have none. OWS doesn't claim to know what's best or right for all of us. Quite the contrary, working groups within the movement have come together for the reason of consensus, and the flexibility inherent in such a system will only continue, negating claims that occupy is arrogant in its knowledge of what's right for us...

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 13 years ago

OWS absolutely says it knows what is best for us. They claim to represent all of us,that's rather arrogant wouldn't you say? Your small group is making "demands". You try to tell us where to shop. You interrupt the daily lives of the 99% constantly and then tell is it's for our own good like a parent would a child. that's not only arrogant but condescending too.

[-] 1 points by Marquee (192) 13 years ago

I agree (surprised?) that people shouldn't be infringing on others rights, that is arrogant and condescending. We're not all like that, Perspective, really we're not. Remember the civil rights movement? Policies and practices changed as a result, and African-Americans quit being lynched and segregated. Quite a few people were inconvenienced during the time, yet it was change that needed to happen. OWS wants similar change to happen, and unfortunately some people get inconvenienced in the process. For this, we apologize.

[-] 1 points by angrylollipop (49) 13 years ago

oh snap, you know your words are so moving man. I'd never really thought much about it until you took your time to offer your insight and wisdom. You're so right, why didn't I see it sooner?! Please let your boss know I'm available to take your job tomorrow and I won't ever surf the internet on company time.

[-] 1 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 13 years ago

But it isn't irrelevant to you I see . . .

Suffering a bit of multi-personality disorder? couldn't stand a post that remained free of comment?

that would unhinge your sense of self and of self worth, calling into question your own perception of self and popularity - obviously if you cannot go somewhere and receive a massage to your withering ego then you will not go -

hence the necessity of your self-congratulatory triple identities consuming time while at work which could otherwise be spent working - and you think the boss will not object because you are on his side yet neither of you realize

that with your own behavior

we find all of the support from you that we need

that from it we feed

and we grow

every single day

thank you very much and please be sure to keep comin back . ..

[-] 1 points by rockyracoon2 (276) 13 years ago

apparently it's not irrelevant to u, since ur making effort to write this post

[-] 1 points by pissedoffchurchlady (7) 13 years ago

I think you need to turn off the Fox. You sound like you're brain has turned to mush. Or are you paid by the RNC to post such trivia. I understand Wall Street now has over 20 lobbyists groups hiring folks like you. Well, I guess even zombies have to eat.

[-] 1 points by Vooter (441) 13 years ago

"For the most part, OWS is irrelevant to most of America at this point."

Well, most of America is retarded, so what did you expect?

[-] 1 points by doctorlove (-10) 13 years ago

are they related to you?

[Removed]

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 13 years ago

Once again Vooter shows how he really feels about the 99%.

[-] 1 points by Vooter (441) 13 years ago

Just the retarded part!

[-] 0 points by DumbAsses (0) 13 years ago

I totally agree with that. Seriously, what have they accomplished except turning themselves into a bunch of dirty hippies. maybe, they were already a bunch of dirty hippies so they haven't accomplished a thing. The original hippy movement did nothing but serve as an embarrassing moment in American history; so, what makes you weirdos think you will do any better. I've seen you in New York City and Baltimore cluttering up parks and the Inner harbor. The one thing you did accomplish however, was ruin my vacation with my family in Baltimore. The day I went downtown was the day you arrived in Baltimore on your way to Washington. You people should really think about taking a shower...with steel wool you smelled so bad.

[-] 1 points by Kevabe (81) 13 years ago

I agree OWS actually made more people from the 99% favor the 1%.

[-] 1 points by angrylollipop (49) 13 years ago

Are you offering your shower? Aww shucks, that's so nice of you.

[-] 1 points by Vooter (441) 13 years ago

"The one thing you did accomplish however, was ruin my vacation with my family in Baltimore."
