why not have the whole world use the same currency
A one world currency would solve no more inequality problems than the dollar has for the U.S. or the British pound did for the British Empire, or the Euro has for the EU. Plus, to have a single global currency is to have a single global financial entity overriding the national sovereignty of independent nations. To some degree, a single global currency already exists in the form of SDRs. If a globally recognised currency were to emerge, it would probably be derived from the basis of SDRs.
There is a global currency... precious metals.
Unless you mean there should be a global fiat currency. The problem with that is the countries with the fastest printing presses will be the ones to get rich off of it.
The fact is metals are used in trade on a global scale, so there's no need for a global currency that can be abused.
It's a good idea. The long term solution to the problems of using the U.S. dollar as the world's anchor currency is a Single Global Currency, managed by a Global Central Bank within a Global Monetary Union. In addition, it will eliminate currency fluctuations and crises, and the need for international reserves, and save $400 billion annually in foreign exchange transaction costs. The success of the euro, despite Greece's mis-steps, shows that monetary union is the best way to ensure monetary stability. If 17 countries can use the same currency, why not 192? The world should begin researching and planning now for a Single Global Currency, which will save the world- literally: trillions. The Single Global Currency Assn. promotes the implementation of a Single Global Currency by 2024, the 80th anniversary of the 1944 conference. That's only 12 years away. The Assn's website is www.singleglobalcurrency.org. See, also, the book, "The Single Global Currency - Common Cents for the World.
Give to Cesar what is Cesar's. I think we need to figure out how to get away from money all together.
i dont think sharing a currency was the problem
wasnt greeces proplem gettting way to big loans, mabe to much flexability
You would have many, many, many more countries suffering the fate of Greece as part of the EU.
Having sovereign control over ones currency is extremely important. It provides flexibility in spending and direct control over ones own economy.
the reason for the different currencys for different things, oil, food, wood, ect. would be because many people would have much more buying power. We would be able purchase much more, so finite resources would be used up to quickly. By creating only enough currency for the responsible use of say oil we could limit its use. I m not sure just how this would work but mabey it could
food stamps for everyone
and other types of stamps, like housing and so on
yes , mabe its that simple, lots of food stamps
how about acid tabs?
everyone on the planet, ( rich or poor ) would get the same amount of money mailed to them every month, so noboby could have a problem with this, people who then do the work would be more likly to be adequitly compensated because they would be doing it by choice. Again, inflation would have to be rendered a non issue. There my be other things that would have to be done , in addition to bank accounts rising, but I cant remember them right now, Ive thought of them before
know1, in your equality system, the person who is not working will get the same check in the mail as the producers? Meaning the person sitting at home on the couch playing video games would be paid the same amount as the top neurosurgeon in the world? One tiny, itty bitty problem with your Utopian society, human nature is such, that the majority of people will opt to sit on their couch if there is no incentive to do otherwise.
people will work so the couch potatoes will give them their money
no, the whole free enterprize system is still in place, working earns u more money
if u dont pass out the monopoly money u cant play
it seems to me, the world is kept poor through lack of currency,
it seems to me ,one world currency, would be a step toword less compotition between countrys and it could make inflation a non issue, if bank accounts automaticly rose with inflation
we have a world of abundance, and everybody lives in terror of economic insecurity, and a very large percentage live in severe poverty
everyone would have the ability to play but no one would be desperate. It seems like the world does not need everyone working full time. People who want more are free to work their ass off
of coarse control would be an issue, but then it already is , would it nessesarily be harder
thank u for responding, thats cool. i have an idea of one world currency ( but possibly different currencys for different things, like one for oil, and a different one for food and so on ) and everyone on the planet recieves a stipend, just enough to live on, like monopoly money. Still plenty of room for free enterprize. If this causes inflation, it seems to me that could be remedied with everybodys bank account automaticly rising with the inflation
