Forum Post: Why this movement will lead to another generation of temporary fixes (if we don't smarten up)

The Alliances were not getting real power, but they were spreading new ideas and a new spirit. Now as a political party, they became the people's party (or Populist party), and met in conventions in 1890 in Topeka, Kansas. The great Populist orator from that state, Mary Ellen Lease, told an enthusiastic crowd: Wall Street owns the country. It is no longer a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but a government of Wall Street, by Wall street and for Wall Street... Our laws are the output of a system which clothes rascals in robes and honesty in rags... the politicians said we suffered from overproduction. Overproduction, when 10,000 little children...starve to death every year in the U.S. and over 100,000 shop girls in New York are forced to sell their virtue for bread...

There are thirty men in the United States whose aggregate wealth is over one and one-half billion dollars. There are a million looking for work... we want money, land and transportation. We want the abolition of the National Banks, and we want the power to make loans direct from the government. We want the accursed foreclosure system wiped out...We will stand by our homes and stay by our firesides by force if necessary, and we will not pay our debts to the loan-shark companies until the government pays its debts to us.

The people are at bay, let the bloodhounds of money who have dogged us thus far beware.

-Taken from Howard Zinn's People History of the United States.

Sound familiar? Well this was over a hundred years ago, and somehow we've slowly slipped back into similar predicaments. There were many "revolutions" throughout this country's history, a lot of of them surprisingly socialist in nature, yet these practices still persist after all this time. Is it really the people in power? Or is it the very system that we're in? I find it funny that we constantly blame individuals and not the system itself that allows this.

How do we fix this permanently?....

The answer is a change to a Resource Based Economy.

The fix is not simple. Most people hate it. The best system is no system. Every system is exploitable. Instead of doing good things because they are good, we manipulate the system to benefit ourselves. When the only way of benefiting ourselves is through doing good for others, contributing to a strong society for its own sake, will we have a truly stable system.

To start, you make everyone responsible for all things. You don't give any individual or group authority over any other group or individual. The most important, the most fundamental unit of any society is the individual. Authority divides us.

Now, the actual logistics of having no system? Hell if I know, but humans, as a whole, are quite intelligent if they have to be. If we focus on the goal of no system, we will build an incredibly stable society that will propel us into the stars.

When I asked that question, I was half asking and half alluding to a point. I'm glad you uncovered a large part of it. I truly hope more people start to see where we need to go for a true social change that will benefit everyone. This survival of the fittest, dog-eat-dog capitalism stuff will never work for an extended period of time. Even the best capitalism still requires an upper, lower, and middle class... and if it were truly equal, would it even be capitalism anymore? Either way, technological unemployment will rear its head in the next couple of decades (if we get that far) and then we'll see how capitalism addresses this issue... Very interesting times ahead my friends.

Rock on, friend. I will say this about capitalism though: It has gotten us this far.

Indeed. The theory behind societal advancement is very interesting. Initially for the dominant society it will be slavery (been there...done that) then capitalism (aka slightly better slavery), then as technology progresses and jobs become less of a standard then socialism, then finally, communism or a resource based economy and this was said a long time ago. A change to a voluntary resource based economic model is very possible, but sadly not in this generation. People are still too uneducated and ignorant I'm afraid.. It requires extremely high intelligence, love, and education for a society to thrive without money that's for sure. We still haven't learned to live with one another yet, we have a long ways to go.

I think that most people don't realize what the fuck is going on anyway. They're flying blind. We need a real time economic map so people can at least start to look at things in terms of reality. That would go so far. Then they can start to help the economy in terms of helping problem spots and also start doing work for fun. But that of course, won't necessarily work for jobs that require training. Get Apple to create a map that shows economic indicators and junk. Seriously. Then we can all look at it and start to figure things out.

So tell me family now what do you think? Watch it all go down the great big sink. Watch how the scum it rises to the top. DOn't you wonder when it's all gonna stop? Sometimes I wonder how we do sleep, serving the dodgy companies we keep. All kicking and scrounging for the very first place - dictionary defintion of a rat race. Pay off those losers we elect to lead. stealing from the mouths that we're meant to fee. Enslaving the very clothes upon my back, I feel the sting but I hear no crack, no crack, I'm sayin

Running through the fire, running through the flame, running through the hatred, pushing through the blame, running through the hopelessness and shame, revolution already underway

Big heavy pirates man digging those holes, messing with something that they can't control. Trespassing lands where they don't belong, all I hear is screaming whee there once were songs. I got my brothers there fighting those wars, fighting over scraps and scraping their sores. Under a blanket of a fire and pride that can't keep us warm for the cold inside!

So tell me when you think we're gonna rise? Wake from this slumber wipe the tears from our eyes? Yes from this nightmare yes I must now wake, open my fist my destiny I take! Good people sick and tired of being pushed around, we call them kings but I see no crown. Tell me when you think we'll just stand up? Say enough is enough is enough, enough!

Take back your feet, take back your hands, take back your words, take back your land. Take back your heart, take back your pride. Don't got to hide. Revolution!

Agreed, so start the war against Injustice by starting our own banks to double the income of the Bottom 99% of Workers, for many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 1% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves, and thus doubling our income from Bank Profits which are 40% of all Corporate Profits; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategically_weighted_policies_organizational_operating_structures_tactical_investment_procedures-448eo

Join http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/ because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Online Congress, and related “new” Businesses, REPLACING the "old" Congress, and related “old” Businesses, according to your current Occupations & Generations, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet, a political opportunist, just like today; what's important is the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing Power & Group Investment Power. In this, sequence is key, and if the correct mathematical sequence is followed then it results in doubling the income of the Bottom 99% of Workers from today's Bank Profits, which are 40% of all Corporate Profits.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 1% Management System of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupations & Generations.

So JOIN the 2nd link, and spread the word, so we can make 100,000 support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.

What is needed for anything is to get a few people who agree with the movement in the house, that would help break the republican stranglehold on reform and allow the bill to get rolling, from there you just need to play it smart and know when to compromise and when not too.

Great quotation that gives our times and can ground OWS in historical context. Fantastic question, without a simple answer.

Great post! We fix this permanently by looking at the past 100 years, hypothesizing what changes helped and what changed hindered progress. And then we make educated guess as to what the best policy should be. We make these educated guess by demanding full transparency in government and electing individuals that adhere to a process of constant improvement in the system. To get from A to B that is the question.
