I'm just going to be as brief as possible. Take it at face value. I neither support nor oppose OWS.

  1. A leader would be tasked with organising rallies to cause disturbance such as those we have seen. A leader could be potentially prosecuted for damage to property, infringements etc.

  2. Supporters and protesters who identify with OWS represent a myriad of causes. A leader would inevitably be required to produce demands as well a clear message in order to prevent scrutiny in the public spotlight. This would inevitably isolate the causes of many protesters, causing them to become disassociated with OWS. Support would then drop, as more people feel OWS does not represent their needs.

Occupy doesn't need a leader...it needs leaders! We need thousands who can speak as leaders, so stand up and be a leader!

It is inevitable for symbolic leaders to emerge, such as Sarah Palin for Tea Partiers, so long as infighting or too many muddled messages don't completely kill momentum.
