The reason that the existing press can get away with saying that they do not know what the motivation of this occupy movement is all about, is because the problems are too wide spread to indicate a specific point of origin. HOWEVER, all of the above mentioned problems are the result of one major problem in our government. That problem is the bribery of our elected officials by way of cash contributions to re-elect these officials in conjunction with the way that these officials respond to the lobby that is also paid for by these very same corporations. Because of this the banks can say they did not break the law. Because by bribing our elected officials and driving the lobby system as they do with the very same cash they were allowed to write their own laws. But now these laws that were written because of international money are themselves the result of TREASON by both the elected officials and the corporate employees. It seems now we are aware of a multitude of our existing laws were written by an act of TREASON. This should be the initial focus point. In time we can undo all of the laws that were written by corporate cash.

The single unifying desire of OWS is (and I'm the official leader):
Rob Peter and give the money to Paul. Claim moral high ground for stealing from Peter. After all, Peter is evil because he earned the money. The only way having money is not evil is if it is unearned. That is why it is OK for Paul to accept the money.
Bribery is the right word. They even own the Roberts court now. They lie to us because they think we're stupid and we are finally letting them know that we understand what's going on. Get corporate money out of government. Its that easy. All else will follow that one change.
The Tea Party didn't successfully elect candidates in the 2010 mid-term elections through bribery and "treason". They did it by voting, while only 24% of eligible voters aged 18-29 bothered to participate in our democracy. If you boycott voting then the result will be a government that isn't responsive to your concerns.
