It's so pathetic how difficult it is to actually do good for this world. We haven't grown up in all these millenias.
To help everybody, we need to reduce the barriers of entry to all kinds of businesses because entrepreneurs starting new businesses create jobs very quickly. Note that small businesses are NOT the same as young businesses that we need to help jump-start the economy. There are family limited partnerships for example that officially are small businesses and yet control huge pieces of our economy. Perhaps not taxing young businesses for three years and providing incubation help will be good. Also there are people who have found jobs elsewhere but they cannot get out from underwater mortgages on their houses. Some mortgage principal restructurings may be helpful to free them. The forgiven amount of mortgage may be construed as income so there would be taxes due on that. It is hard to make a new beginning if one is docked with taxes due to phantom income.
Korsen: It was a rhetorical question. Didn't mean for it to be taken seriously, but to be thought about. Sorry for not making the distinction.
grapes: That's why I think money and invisibility of money should be done away with. Thank you for pointing me to that thread! Very important information in there that should be read by more than just me.
Companies exist to make profit. When profit is down, it really hurts. Everything else is superficial. Learn to read company financial reports and where the profits are coming from. Whenever something seems hard to understand, try tracing the volume and direction of money flow. The entire economic system hinges on money and its myriad derivatives but one who understands the real nature of all these will discover where the levers are.
Because.
That's all you need to know. If you ask another question, it will be answered with "Because."
Too bad, unfortunately.
You need to know the power structure and where the levers are. Here is a reposting from closing bank account forum: Bear in mind this food chain when targeting: OWS/unions -> Buy-side firms (asset management companies managing pension funds etc.) -> Sell-side firms (quasi-investment banks such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan-Stanley) -> Stock Exchanges. OWS/unions -> voter registration blocs -> politicians -> regulators -> wall street companies. Divestiture effort against South Africa eventually freed it from apartheid but the motivation came from financially and politically connected people so do not kill the devil's ambassador because the devil may want to DEAL when there is enough pain.
