Forum Post: Why I think, "Mic Check" isn't such a good idea.

The concept of "Mic Check" is helpful in amplifying the voice of a speaker in a crowd as a tool. However, speaking as a 99%, I feel that it doesn't fully support individual thinking, which allows the spreading of awareness through critical thinking.

i think that every sentence spoken should be echoed with a thoughtful critique.

that will raise the standard of analysis lacking among the OWS crowd.

Good point. Instead of sounding like robots. You're right.

I think mic check should have the women repeat it first, then men, then blacks, whites and so on.

Just to show we have diversity but unity as well. It would have the feel of a spiritual revival.

That doesn't make any sense. The reason why they repeat it is to amplify voices. Race has nothing to do with anything. We are all One and we are all diverse yes, but the whole purpose of "Mic Check" is to amplify who ever is in the front so the people in the back can hear it. So what you suggest doesn't make any type of sense.

I didn't mean all the time. Just maybe once in a while to prove to the media we have a lot of diversity.

Hearing those chorus of voices would reinforce that.

It will attract others to the cause.

Just like now, there are OWS signs in various languages. It draws in diverse people.

I hear you, the thing is that we can't really rely on the media anyway they never speak the truth to begin with. Instead we should record and publish online those people so that others can feel encouraged to come down, from all walks of life. But I understand your intention was a good one so I am not knocking it. :)
