I cannot do what you are all doing day after day and I am sorry. I am middle aged, female and have a somewhat weak constitution. I can't survive in an environment without warmth, bathrooms very nearby and comfort. I'm sorry. But I will tell you what I do. Every day at my job I listen to people who call for legal advice about debt, and debt collector harassment, abuse, and sometimes illegal lawsuits against these people. I cannot divulge more information than that, but I will tell you that some of the stories I hear about abuse would make you want to cry and scream in rage all at once. Perhaps my vision of the economy has become limited or skewed due to the nature of my work, but I know firsthand how completely screwed many Americans are. Folks, do yourself a favor, and educate yourself on the laws of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, usually called the FDCPA. Also learn about the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so you can know what to do when your credit is damaged. Also read up on civil procedure so when you decide to default on those debts you know what the hell to do when that summons is delivered to you. (Answer it. Show up to court. Be prepared. Defend yourself). So, again, I am so sorry I'm not there down in lower Manhattan (not a long train ride either), but I work hard, cannot take a day off due to the literally hundreds of people calling all week, and I am exhausted on the weekend. Know that I am there in spirit with you. I like to think I am helping you, your family and friends while I'm at work. I am only doing my job. But I never knew I would be so emotionally thunderstruck by the sheer volume of misery out there. God Help Us All.
You're doing your best, and that's individual to you. You're not systematically exploiting people for massive benefits. Other than that, no one can judge you. Take care, Pertello.
You are doing a job that should not have to be done - kudos to you for trying to helping those in desperate need.
Liberty Square is not the only front in this war. We all fight in whatever way we can for what is just and fair. Thank you!
I'm hoping OWS will diversify and deploy other strategies such as non-compliance; economic boycotts, more teach ins which will appeal to, and be more suitable for, greater numbers of supporters.OWS accepts donations and other forms of support.
We all do what we can. Keep putting up posts like this. You have no idea how important stuff like this is to the Movement.
Thank you for your dedication to helping others who've encountered unfortunate circumstances in their lives.
Please be kind enough to yourself, taking the breaks you need, so that you may remain strong enough to continue to help these persons.
Thank you for your empathy and humility. America could use many millions more like you.
I don't because I don't care. Go rich people
I second that motion.
Why should you apologize? You are actually helping real people instead of sitting in a park banging on a drum and harassing pedestrians. You should be proud .
