Its been tough on most everyone these last few years, but everyone I know of has managed to deal with it in their own way. One of my friends moved to Australia in 2009. She is an attorney, but couldnt find work here. However, she seems to be doing well over there. Another one of my friends moved to Willingston, North Dakota where they are now making six figures in the oil industry which is the most they have ever made. Another person I know started a small business, struggled at first, but is now on their way.
I can tell you what will not change your situation and that is trashing out a public park and getting high.
You have to be creative nowadays. Either you have to have good connections, have an in-demand skill or be willing to make a move like my buddies did. Every one of my buddies who has moved is working hard, but now well funded and having a good time.
I can't tell you what to do...you will do what you want...but I do know for some of you half your life is nearly over and you should be spending your time as constructively as possible. Trashing out a public park is really not the way to go.
One mans trash is another mans treasure, and I treasure the the movement and the opportunity to be heard, even if you don't like it. It was OK when the tea-baggers were doing it though huh?
No one got murdered at a Tea Party event. The Tea Baggers didnt trash out public parks. The Tea Party events seemed to have a much classier element. The Tea Party simply wanted taxes lowered where as the Occupiers see this as a revolution and wont stop until they take back the government. You see, with that attitude they will not be taking back the goverment. No one is going to give anything to a few thousand layabouts in a public park.
to the poster: The movement needs some unemployed occupiers as a symbol to the 99%. this country doesnt have a 99% unemployment rate, but it does have a shrinking middle class, and that's a problem. I've spent time down there, walked through, talked to people, they're not "trashing out" they're peacefully protesting, engaging in healthy debates, coming to better understand eachother, doing things all of us should be doing more often. I'm a hard working american, i work 60+ hours a week, (much of which is unpaid labor) at $11 an hour, and I am in full support of OWS. You can be employed and support this movement man, do yourself a favor and get down there to see what it's all about.
bravo!!!

My tastes dont run that way. Im just saying I have not seen any attractive women in these camps.
Oh, haven't you heard? Every position in America is taken. There are absolutely 0 jobs to be had.. apparently. Every spare job is being taken by illegal immigrants for 25 cents an hour so that the greedy corporations can make profits.
lol
EDIT: THIS POST IS A JOKE. DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.
Amazing. Just got a job driving a bus. That job did not exist I guess.
Thats not true. There are jobs in places like North Dakota. Of course, it will take some sacrifice moving to a place like that.
You cant sit there and blame others like you are doing. i.e...its the corporations...its the 1%. Thats just an excuse. Many people I know of made a big move to find a worthwhile career. While they are now working, some of you are trashing out public parks in the name of Democracy. Please, lets get real. How will trashing out the park somehow make the economy better? One has nothing to do with the other. While it may make you feel good, its not helping.
This movement has become global, that's an accomplishment in itself, I think. Getting people to understand some of these issues on a wide level is very important.
I did try your strategy though, I worked as an English teacher first in China then in Argentina over the past couple years. In China, I didn't get rich but did actually save some money, and had quite a valuable experience. In Argentina, I started a school, which my partner still keeps going to this day.
Now, I'm back in the US, thinking of either going traveling again or getting an MA in teaching ESL, so I can teach the foreigners who attend the colleges in the US.
Well there's some low paid "wage-slaves" that will have work cleaning it up. Tough Tittie, deal with it!
Uh... My post was in jest.
