They complain 24-7 about 'ron paul' a nobody, yet the current USA president was bankrolled by the biggest crooks on earth GoldmanSachs CEO's, just a few months ago Corzine stole $3Billion dollars from US farmers and wired the money to Europe, and he still walks free. Wasn't it the banks that forced the price of homes up by offering sub prime loans? They let so many buyers into the market who shouldn't have been there, that the prices were driven way up.
i disagree with "letting buyers into the market that shouldnt have been there". we the people were given this land in its original treaty formed by the colonys and in that treaty it specifically states that the government cannot own the land cause it belongs to the people. Yet if any person goes to any land under "management" of they bureau of land management, to try and live there, he cannot.. and now we will say, that they shouldnt be home owners because they dont make enough money to afford a home? Have you looked at the percentage of the mortgage payments that americans pay for a home? 80% goes towards interest to rich bankers. Its all stacked in favor against working americans. I say if they are working americans they should be able to own land and a home, this is how brainwashing has diluted the real problem in america. One might ask why so much land is owned by one person as I see it when I drive around and see large unoccupied and undeveloped land nearly every direction.

I think working people should be able to own homes too, but the income of working people is not what it used to be. When we had a manufacturing base here, many people without college educations were able to own homes.

I have been living in the same house I bought for the last 12 years and paid $144,000. Just did a 3.85 refi 30 years and brought my payments down to 685 mo.
I can now put more money in the bank, and add more to my wifes 401K.
Now, if I or my wife is without a job tomorrow, we can still afford the monthly payments - we have no car payments - own all 3 vehicles and they are all in great shape along with one Harley Davidson Sportster.
So, if prices on realestate does go up, I will benefit from it.
well i am for the price of homes going down, so that the next family doesnt suffer under the rule of the elite bankers. and im for people paying off their home mortgage early so that familes havem more money to save for themselves, and their children, which is easier to achieve when our land and homes are lower priced. Why should someone get rich off the backs of the next poor family that just needed a place to live? This is a pyramid scheme and like all pyramid schemes eventually fall. I hope the homes drop another 60k in value.
I paid $136k plus 6k in closing cost for a total of $142k for my home, it had depreciated $63k from the previous owner.
Another benefit to having lower priced homes is that there is less taxes the government takes away from we the people. They are fat cats, addicted to spending, and its time to put them on a diet.
You see, when you bought your home regardless of what the price was, you were responsible in making sure that you could pay it off - and I will guarentee you that should you lose your job tomorrow, you will still be able to make the monthly payments.
Lots of people didn't do this - they instead bought $300,000 homes they couldn't afford should they get laid off.
When I bought my home I looked at it from that perspective - most people don't because they want to have it all now - and it doesn't work that way.
It takes time to build wealth.
As far as someone getting rich of the backs of the next poor family that just needed a place to live - there are programs out there for them to purchase houses and that is one reason the housing market is where it is.
They did buy houses but weren't concerned about the practicality of being financially responsible. The idea of owning a home was the only vision they had. We bought our first home when I was 45 - not when I was 25 like most people think they should be able to do.

I'm surprised the New York OWS folks haven't mobilized behind a slogan such as 'We Have Standards' with a list of demands among them that cities must have HUD compliant housing designed and reserved for the same percentage of minimum wage to those just below the average income per person for the specific geographic area and that the housing available not to exceed more than 35% of the income earner's salary including insurance, utility, water and garbage costs.
So many face the difficulty of income earnings that are incompatible with local costs especially in expensive areas such as New York and San Francisco such that a basic such as housing is not readily available. Others complain too that workers such as Firefighters and Police earning 6 figure income are paid too much when, according to a few 'old timers' over the age of 80 say that in the old days neighborhoods 'fit' the income demographic more closely and that if our city planners went back to planning focusing on the income groups we would not see as much hardship and reliance on public and private subsidy programs among those earning below the income averages or a need to pay city and government employees such as Firefighters and Police as high as they are for their geographic area.

Given what OWS has accomplished, I think we can all agree that OWS has gotten way more than $1 Million dollars from Goldman Sachs.
