Do you make that much? Is is fair for Congress to earn so much when the other 99% earns so little? Let's send a message! Please sign my petition at: http://www.change.org/petitions/pay-congress-what-middle-class-americans-earn

now this is something I totally agree with. also I love that they 'vote' themselves raises. Can you imagine voting yourself a raise when you have bankrupted the company you work for? This might open up the political process for those of us middle class people to go and work in Washington to actually attempt to solve the problems. The overwhelming majority of Congress/Senate are millionaires.

Doesn't this make anyone mad?

According to the census bureau in 2008 the average annual household income was only $52,089! So why does Congress deserve so much more when they are doing such a poor job of running this country?

And the leaders make as much as $223,500 a year!!! This is on top of their expense accounts, free travel, pension plans, free healthcare insurance, etc.
