Forum Post: Who's stepping up to the spotlight?

What the OWS needs is a charismatic and intelligent leader to push this movement to the next level. Social media will not last forever. Already the 99% have become jaded to the hundreds of stories friends share about the protests. We need a direction and someone to push us beyond our limited scope. We need a single voice that will crystallize our intentions and provoke our antagonists. We need someone who will speak to the press with our voice and our rationale. Right now we look like a mob and not a movement.

I was thinking more like MLKJr . . . And the mob thing was directed towards the perception of us by the ruling class. They don't fear the mob, and they don't really fear our ability to enact change. They will fear a directed movement. Ghandi had his march to the sea. MLKJr had the March on Washington. What will we have and who will be at the front of the line? Right now our protests, and they are that, patriotic or not (it is our patriotism that allows us to hold these protests), are scattered and show support in many areas, but we need someone who will stand on the front lines and make directed attacks (peaceful non aggressive attacks like active boycotts).

I agree there is strength in anonymity, but it also shows fear. Safety is one thing, but it is the fact that our leaders are Anonymous that makes us seem the mob. No one is truly in control and everyone wants something different. Strength in anonymity also shows something else. It's those moments in class when the teacher asks a question and no one gives an answer. The silence hangs palpably. It shows non-commitment. The anonymous can come and go as they please. We don't need faceless organizers.

I'm not about making a party, I talking of a movement. A mobilization of many like-minded individuals. One of the problems right not is that many of the people on the street have different ideals that they are fighting for: anything from saving the animals in the slaughterhouses to eliminating nuclear power. We are disorganized, people who want to get involved but aren't in metropolitan areas are confused (I've seen too many posts like this), and right now the rich on Wall Street and their fogeys in DC are just biding their time for this to blow over because at this rate it will. People want to see change to stay involved. You say don't fix what ain't broke, but that just implies stagnation. Humanity is about making things better, inventing better ways to succeed and making it easier to live.

It's not about the number of the faceless we get to join us, it's about getting the world to hear us. They are asking the question "What do we want?" and are getting a bunch of anonymous responses. I've seen at least 10 lists of demands from OWS and they are all different. They can't take us seriously and why should they when we are anonymous and afraid of what they will do to us?

I am John Ludwig Jaeger from Illinois and I am not anonymous, I am not afraid, and I stand with the movement.

OWS has been active for LESS THAN A MONTH.... Give them a chance!

Your impatience is understandable but not clever, in my opinion. The Movement must give the American people time to ABSORB all this and must move very skillfully... One wrong move and they can lose a great deal of what they've so far achieved.

Remember, this is ONE BIG CHESS GAME with the Devil and his Cohorts of the Status Quo...

Fair reply. And honest, I didn't write to be clever.

A single leader will lead to the destruction of this movement. Anonymity of our leaders is keeping this movement safe. Social media will last as long as there is electricity + internet. At this very moment Government operatives are infiltrating OWS; we cannot afford to put all of our eggs in one basket. We need to stay anonymous and powerful.

Have you seen the 99%Declaration? It does address a lot of what we are seeking. it was put together after the arrests several weeks ago. I know there is a post here on it somewhere. Check out https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/home/the-steps-to-non-violent-revolution

"Right now we look like a mob and not a movement."

That's not my impression at all! I sense from the many polls that the admiration of the American public for the OWS Patriots - not "protesters", but true patriots and heroes! - is growing by the day.

So, for the moment, at this very early stage, I would advise: "Don't change anything". Why fix it if it ain't broke?

But at a later stage, perhaps, yes, "a charismatic and intelligent leader" will be the natural route to take. And forming a party that would naturally take away from the Dems their traditional base, thus leading to an IMPLOSION of the obsolete and hopelessly corrupt Democratic Party... I think that is the greatest GIFT that OWS could bestow upon the American people. The NEW party would offer - for the first time since FDR, perhaps - a TRUE ALTERNATIVE to the Neanderthals of the GOP.

And a small handful of CAREFULLY selected ex-Democrats, like Dennis Kucinich, Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, would be naturally invited to join.

Leaders... perhaps. a committee, of sorts, who represent each grievance sector. Each sector having it's own committee and representative.

I agree. For now, intentions are being crystallized here:

The guiding principle among all the coalitions involved in the OWS movement can be boiled down to one idea. It is so strikingly simple and standing there in plain sight. It is PUT THE PEOPLE FIRST.

Exactly. Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Join

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet; it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.
