Too bad there isn't a ban button for the obvious loonies who are only out to discredit OWS and other occupy gatherings.

I'm not asking to censor valid input....but blatant harrassing and insults on a thread ...it should be up to the originator of the thread to delete or allow.

I'd prefer upvotes/downvotes on threads. Leave the garbage in a ratings sinkhole, instead of censoring it.

YES

[-] 1 points by ribis (240) 13 years ago

So upvote my comment! The arrows are right next to my username! =)

All we need is the same function for topics.

Heh. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm a noob lol. But YES

And, that's how I'd like topic comments to work. Assemblies have wiggly fingers; we should at least be able to put pluses and minuses on forum topics.

Agreed.

Remember, this is just the internet.

Actions speak louder than words, and were it not for thousands of people out on the street, we wouldn't be on this forum.

I think the really important discussions are taking place in 'real life'

Can't wait to get out there ^^

the fact that there is no censorship on here is what makes it exceptional. stop crying.

I have learned a lot here, glad I seeked it out when I did. Just couldn't believe the press ya know. I would like to see a more organized user friendly board. Lots of threads get lost here. Trolls suck, and those that resort to name calling, harrasment, and insults usually just don't have a logical idea to refutiate whatever it is they argue.

Yes to up and down votes on comments. Best thing you can do to a troll or flamer is ignore them.

[-] 1 points by Atoll (185) 13 years ago

I wouldn't say there should be a "ban" button. It creates discourse, for better or worse. "Flaming", yes, should be outright disallowed. But not "heated debate". Some great things have come from that in the past.
Most of the things I would suggest would take great time and resources, which may or may not be available. It would most likely be a more (groan) facebook style notification system. Something that would relate a user to a response to a post.

Let them read our responses and get down-voted when they misbehave. The alternative is for them to be isolated from us listening to their rabid fantasy news network. We're seeing some really free speech on here.

So many of their forums, like Michelle Malkin's site, are like that, no one can post but them. If you say anything they disagree with they ban you immediately, then they close registration because it's too much work to constantly have to think about ideas other than your own.

We don't want to be like them do we?

GET A JOB

[-] 1 points by Atoll (185) 13 years ago

Seriously? Why bother coming here? This person may be entering a post from home, off work FROM his job. How about "get some awareness"?
