our system of representation is broken. what passes for representation is a system of accreditation entirely removed from merit. our "representatives" are full of self-promotion and built up on mental institutions and ideals that once captured the hearts and minds of a nation (see penicilin, and thomas paines, Rights of Man.) but now serve to placate slogans and group-think for the sake of conformity and convenience. think, the messeging coming from most all political platforms creates a schism between people and their interests but reguardless gives them a "voice" of leadership. this is a far cry from any leadership one might attain from the stewardship of truth telling, where-in your interests are voiced flagrently. the most substantial thing about these "representatives" is their self-promotion. all i would ask is that they also perform the duties this nation calls them to serve us with. so, the question becomes are we talking to the right people? who has the authority to administrate and the courage to act on the truth (that is what justice is called). i propose we go to washington and find out. we should ask legislators individually to acknowledge the limits of their personal responsibilities and therefore their utility. in other words if they have an excuse for why they can not contribute to the body of work this nation is undergoing then they do not have an excuse for why they should not be fired. aside from people voting against there own interests, there-in lies a conscientious choice. the choice not to ascent to the impudence and impugnity of a caracature of our nation; one where the hyper-represented take precendence over the people that serve and work and build America. something has got to give. if organizing a vote does not work (a vote against overtly impudent governace) and organizing protest does not work, perhaps an economy of scale is a solution: if you double one 30 times what number do you end with? 100, 1000, 10,000... try 11 million. in a word, recruitment; centralize the movement with a national congregation and put it directly on their shoulders. in my eyes, this battle is about organizing people. the police are organized and funded. television constantly, indoctrinated us with the marinalization and immediacy of materialism. people surrender their individuality for the convenience of adopting others expectation instead of harboring their own (mostly for an income). in the bible moses is approached by his father in law who gives him some advice: use the truth as a muse to organize people and they will help themselves to justice.
Amen - For decades now the corporations and special interests have had our "representatives" bought and paid for (both on the right and the left). Don't get distracted by the symptoms - we need to address the root cause. Concentrating our efforts on getting the money out of our politics is the best way we can create an environment in which further reforms can be realized. Until we end the current system of legalized bribery (campaign donations) and paid lobbying our politicians will continue to be the LAP DOGS of the corporations and special interests. What we need first and foremost is real, loop-hole free CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM!!!! If the corruption is not dealt with first, the chance of any other meaningful reforms becoming a reality is almost zero - the special interests will just use their money to buy votes and put forward bills that create loop-holes or otherwise twist the law in their favor. If we want our children to live in a country where there vote matters, we need to get the money out of our politics, otherwise they will increasingly become the 21st century version of the "landless peasant." Spread the word - End the LEGALIZED BRIBERY!!! CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM needs to be THE main goal of the protests!!!
