My trust in our institutions has worn very thin. It seems that everything we hear alleging to be true or factual is distorted or slanted in a particular way. Manipulation of emotional responses has become the point of advertisements (for products and politicians) rather than truly informing. Now I have noticed the following things begin to happen: expansion of the Patriot Act to include detaining American citizens suspected of the most marginal association with alleged "terrorists"; efforts to make it possible to shut down the internet; Michigan's government taking over management of certain cities, arbitrarily replacing the elected officials with political appointees; efforts to make it more difficult to vote, with no valid reason to do so; drones being used for patrols within our own borders, allegedly for drug and illegal immigration, but apparently not making much of a difference except higher costs -- perhaps it is to get us accustomed to seeing them flying over. The acceptance of the brutality against OWS by most people as okay. If we don't learn to trust each other and work together to solve our problems, the situation will be taken out of our hands.
