How much higher than the normal population distribution do you think it is?
Jesus would be in charge of OWS getting pepper sprayed.
No doubt!
I think it probably reflects the percentages in the general American population.
What is "the normal population"?
Does it matter? Who cares what ideology anyone embraces as long as they are on the right side of the truth?
Don't get me wrong. I think Jesus would be an OWS sort of fellow, but conservative right wing religion has pwned this country for the last couple decades.
this isn't a religious movement. Don't waste peoples time.
My guess would be that atheists are more willing to look at things from a new perspective. But that's just my guess and i realize that i could be completely wrong. But, why would it matter?
I'm a devout atheist/ recovering Catholic and staunch--I would say committed! --supporter of OWS. My guess too was/ is that atheists are more inclined to 1) disobey authority when it is corrupt, 2) believe that we should be working on creating heaven (or its nearest approximation) on Earth, and not just waiting around for it to appear magically (when we are dead).
But Christians... or rather followers of Christ... have a good reason to be occupying OWS. Jesus did, after all-- according to the legend-- throw the Money Changers out of the Temple. Didn't he also tell the 1% that they should start training their camels to squeeze through the eyes of needles or something??
p.s. don't know if it matters except that it's interesting to know who we are. given the mainstream media's ability to define "us" in their simplistic and "Advertiser-friendly" terms... plus it just interests me. atheist or not, we have a society obsessed with these religious claims and arguments. and I agree with the late-great Christopher Hitchens that We need to have this discussion. (and I look forward to winning it!)
Not enough.
There's no such thing as an atheist, there's people that publically claim they don't believe in God but that's only because they don't believe in any religion and I don't blame them.....but all of us instinctively feel the heavenly fathers presence in times of trouble.
Instinct, hope, faith, amazing grace....
Sorry, gottta disagree. Speaking for myself, and other atheists I know of, feelings are not facts.
its all good
