Music as a means to end civil unrest in order to pacify a nation, this is a concept that I have been observing over sometime now. People like simple, they prefer not to think, because it is easier to have others think for you as they follow towards other uncertain ideals. Therefore, it is obvious that if someone has control over the types of emotions one exhibits, by dumbing it down they will blindly pursue it. So we see the increase of sexual behaviors amongst our youth, as well as other values being implemented which negatively effect how the child is raised. Instilling useless arrogance, amongst people which invokes poor decision making. An example is this lyric by Gucci Mane, a terrible rapper, in my opinion.

"Icy" (feat. Young Jeezy, Boo)

I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy, I'm icy

[Chorus:] All these girls excited Oooo ya know they like it I'm so icy, so icy Girl don't try to fight it All yo friends invited I'm so icy, so icy

[1st Verse: Young Jeezy] Got a house around my neck, and my wrist on chill Any given time, 250 in ya grill (a quarter million?) All I do is talk shit, u can even add a couple grand for my outfit U betta act like ya know man, in my hood they call me Jeezy da Snowman Ya get it? Get it? Jeezy da Snowman I'm iced out, plus I got snow, man Let it marinate, y'all niggaz is slow man (slow man) (Man what the fuck y'all...yo dumb ass) I used to get nineteen for a beat Call me Ginuwine, the same 'ol G ('ol G) I'm da shit biiiaaattch, I need toilet paper (daaaaaayyuum!) And some air freshener nigga, fuck a hata These niggaz don't like me I'm wit da Gucci Mane and I'm so icy

I gave up trying to submit the rest, its pure nonsense. I understand the street culture and that a chain around your neck symbolizes success, and with this the use it to flaunt to others. However growing up in an environment that its constant message is useless arrogance I still haven’t seen much improvement. This creates a never ending cycle in which the society is constantly feed with this type of thinking. Honestly one cant make major decisions based on that lifestyle, which promotes a “fuck it” attitude. This is type of music only brings out false leaders, (since music is very influential). One must find real music, one with lyrics that make sense, and stimulate active thinking, Lupe Fiasco had it right, as well as many musicians which are being shut down. We must listen to music that promotes soul searching, and any genre has some type of artists that do those things, is that it might take some searching. Because artists gain their influence by people, and we forget if we feed unworthy artists with our attention, the good ones will never get heard. One could also pull what I call the southpark syndrome, which they have presented the argument that music sucks due to that you are getting old. However I strongly disagree with that, as clearly seen, the quality of lyrical content in older music is much more intuitive, and emotionally relative, than the arrogance displayed above, as well as in other lyrics. We have lost the ability to analyze and breakdown topics and ideas presented to us by the media. And therefore we are easily misled like a herd of animals towards the slaughterhouse. This issue must also be discussed within this movement since this form of propaganda has many defenseless if they remain ignorant.
